I got a week ahead of myself and called Scooter World yest to schedule Peej's spring tune up. I thought that today was the 23, which meant next Sat was busy and the next-next I travel. Except we all know that I looked at the wrong day in my calendar. Oopsie.
Otoh, it just means I'm ahead of the crowd and already have my scoot all tuned up and ready to go. Bonus part, they give a March Madness discount--25% off the tuneup. So I save about $20 by jumping the gun here.
Bad thing was it wasn't 57Β° at 10:00 when I drove there, it was closer to 40Β°. Good thing is I had the nice red jacket Mom had picked out when we stopped (for some reason I don't remember anymore) at Reno Yamaha. "Look, it's the same color as that thing!" So even though I already had the mesh jacket and the beautiful white leather jacket, I got the red one. How do you tell your Mom no, when she's being enthusiastic about something she doesn't really approve of? I should'e worn the leather, but I couldn't find it quickly. That's ok, Mom's love wrapped up inside the red jacket kept me warm enough.
I was a tinge concerned about not having driven for almost a year, and jumping right into the deep end driving to the shop without practising around the neighborhood first. But after the first few turns and a tiny bit of stomach-clenching, it all felt fine again. Like that near-year layoff never happened, nor the year before that when workman's comp pretty much forbade it.
Other good news is this is motivating me to clear out the garage. I couldn't back Peej in to plug back into the battery tender without moving my car out of the way. So I need to get rid of the boxes my bro had moved into the other half.
YIPPEE!! MARCH MADNESS IS HERE, AND SPRING IS RIGHT BEHIND!!! RIDING SEASON IS ALMOST COME!!!!

Oh, and they replaced perfectly clean oil that only had maybe 100 miles on it. Breaks my heart to waste a couple of quarts like that. But it's what they do every year.
All other fluids were good. Replaced the spark. Did check my carb and starter since I had troubles getting Peej to go, but they were fine, too. I think it's 'cause I was bad and didn't start him up since Mom died. He *was* plugged into the tender, but that's obviously not enough. When I pushed the starter, at first he just stuttered. It took many tries to get the engine to start, then it wouldn't stay on when I released the starter. Even when I gave it more gas, still didn't stay on. I realize now afterwards that the engine didn't rev higher with more gas, so something wasn't engaged or on or whatever even though it sounded on. There, how's that for being non-mech-y? Once he finally started, then it all went just fine.
And the shop-guy went out with me when I returned, and REALLY went over my tires. There is zero indication of any aging--no cracks, grazing, fading, nothing at all. The front tire does show the start of a little wear, whereas my rear looks almost new. All chicken strips present and untouched, sirs. Guy said I should save up for next year, 'cause they'll probably need replacing just due to age. We won't tell rocky how old they are (wink). Needless to say, like the oil, we'll be throwing out tires that are not used up. They should last 8k-9k miles; they might have 4k by then, if I stay healthy and whole and the weather cooperates.

Thanks, fly.
And gull, you and rocky, you're just weather show-offs. Me, I like four seasons. And dislike hurricanes.

Supposed to be above 40ΒΊF this week (20s in the mornings), but as soon as I'm confident there's no ice I'm riding like I stole it! It's been a tough winter.

Kat,
I'm jealous! You have a scooter that RUNS! LOL!
It's warming up here, and I'm anxious to see what is really wrong with the Mouse... First, another new solenoid and battery. If she's still dead, it's off the dealer... (EEEWWWW!).
Gone are my days of yanking out a motor and performing major surgery...
It will be good to get some wind on my knuckles though!
Ride safe!
