If I lived at a lake, I'd own a jet ski. Seems like it would be rather like a water-scooter.
But I'm not sure I have any desire to try snowmobiling.
Since I'm not very macho, that must make snowmobiles machoier than jet skis.

Snowmobiles are a necessity in the Great White North. Jet Ski a necessity? Not so much... 😉

Neither is a scooter in places where there's winter, 'gull. Like right now when the drizzly-rain from all day has now frozen on the streets. I'm not sure I want to go out on four wheels tom, let alone just two.
But just 'cause something isn't a necessity doesn't make it not-macho.

I wouldn't take a scooter out in ice and snow unless it was a trike. On second thought, I would only ride ice and snow in a 2wd Ural with side car.

Actually, a friend has a Spyder and drove on snow. He'd gone to a friend's house for movies, and came out to unpredicted snow. Had to get home so decided to chance it, slow and careful. He made it with little trouble.

Snowmobile... OR "Snow-Machine" as Alaskans insist they be called...
Years ago, I had a customer for my eBay projects who lived WAY off the grid in northern B.C. They got their mail dropped from a bush-plane, and picked up same way! Their ONLY transportation was as they put it, snow-machine (sorta reliable when gas was available) and the trusty dog-sled and Husky team (Always reliable). Heaven help them if they needed a doctor or ran outa food and couldn't shoot something!
As a little kid, I remember in Chicago one winter snow storm that totally shut down streets. A handful of guys with snowmobiles saved a lot of lives... Pretty macho!

You will look very macho while pooper scoopering after your dog team Hey! I resemble that! I spent a year poop-scoop-ing. And actually got paid for it. Sigh. Paid to luvey up doggos. What a job! Oh wait, there was also poop-scooping, and puke-scooping, and scrubbing out the kennels and kitty-boxes. And one dog attack. And one psychotic drutsab of a little monster who had figured out how to pull off the muzzle then tried to bite everyone. And one cat bite that clipped my nerve. But otherwise it was great. Learned a ton about dogs and cats, and grooming, and just everything.

I think maybe this thread should include "macho" women! (Is there such a thing?) or is it "macha"...? Handling a bad dog that can remove its muzzle is just as edgy as a neutral-drop hole-shot with a teensy girl's hand on the shifter! Go girl! And ride safe, Leo

Say, I actually thought of your Flying Squirrel last night watching Pawn Stars. Some guy brought in his collection of VERY early motorcycle racing--when the tracks were wood and the bikes were, well, bikes. The guys were saying how it took courage, skill, and a whole lotta crazy to do that. And how they'd strip down to their skivvies to be as light as possible. Which reminded me of tiny little Jan's racing. I sure wish I could've seen her fly!
