This has been up for awhile on my local Craigslist...

A 2009 Kymco Xciting 250Ri for $300 (OBO). For those who don't want to click, text of ad is:

"This big beast runs, but needs a new fuel pump. Fuel injected. Clean title. Priced to move quick. Enjoy!"

10,000 miles, still available.

I'm thinking about buying this, fixing it, and selling it for a small profit. 2 similar bikes (but pretty good condition) I have seen available 'round here are:

A 2009 Kymco Grandvista 250 - treasure.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2009-kymco-grandvista-250-cc/6664878644.html - $1875...

And, a 2010 Kymco Xciting 250Ri - www.sarasotafunmachines.com/inventory/2010-kymco-xciting-250ri-nokomis-fl-34275-2479615i - $1799...

I think I found a fuel pump online for about $150 - so say $200. Offer $250 for the scooter. Say even another $500 to get it running/safe. Invest $950-$1000 - maybe get $1400 - $1500?

What do you good people think? Am I mad? Insane? Confused? An IDIOT? All of the aforementioned?

Make sure it's just the fuel pump. I bought a Kymco Like 50cc to flip with "Electrical Gremlins". A stator, starter motor and barrel and piston later I sold it for what I paid for it, losing about $700 in the process. Kymco parts aren't cheap and it's easy to spend more than you set out wanting to.

W650 has a good point.

I've bought more than a few things... cars, guns, engines and such advertised as "easy fix" only to find out they were totally trashed. IF this ad is honest, you could make a few bucks flipping it. I'd probably end up keeping it with no use for it... LOL!

Yah, all the above.

Still doesn't mean it's not a good idea, IF like the others pointed out that the only thing wrong is indeed the fuel pump. Can you check everything else out without a working fuel pump, before buying it?
