Tougher than me, hillbillybob. If it's under 40d, I don't get on the scooter, even with my wind shield is mounted.

In the late 1980's and early 1990's, I used to ride my motorcycles (in northern NJ) year-round (well, at least if it was only cold, not with snow or ice on the ground! ). I think I may have looked a bit like the Michelin Man - Bibendum - with my puffy jacket and pants, but it was fun... 1987 Suzuki GS450LH 1982 Yamaha Seca 650 I did have nice big windshields on both of them... These are not pictures of mine, but are true to color and appearance...

Oh - by the way - will be SCOOTING today, tomorrow, and Monday! Taking Monday off - the wife wants to ride up to Cocoa Beach on Monday - riding, as much as possible, on the roads by the sea...

I rode my scoot to the polls this morning for early voting. Then onto the post office and hardware store for a few things.

Well, we didn't quite make it to Cocoa Beach. Only made it to Indialantic, close to Melbourne. Took our time riding North along the ocean. Total = 170 miles. 10 am - 4:30 pm. I filled up with Rec Ninety before we left. Ninety miles later, I put exactly 1 gallon of Rec Ninety in - not even filled to the same level as filled earlier - but close... Ninety MPG! The last long-ish ride we took, we got 74.5 MPG. This was pretty constant riding today, mostly at 40-60 mph, occasionally 25-35 mph. Is it possible to get ninety MPG with a People GT 300i? It appears so...

The wife and I absconded for a ride today. Rain cut the ride short. We tucked behind our windshields so that we wouldn't get too wet.

Ah - the surprise shower! We have had that happen to us on a few occasions. The full "Drowned Rat" experience, I presume?

The rain was fairly light, so fortunately, we weren't soaked. It still stung when it hit my arms and legs.

Not me.....in fact, I won't be until next spring. We've had 17" of snow in the past week and a half....salt trucks have made multiple runs, so I'm done til April. Didn't ride as much as I would have liked, but this years miles covered totaled 7,079.....breakdown went like this.
Scooter - 1,817 miles BMW#1 - 1,561 miles BMW#2 - 1,381 miles Ural - 2,320 miles

Finally went for a spin after the relatives were gone. I wish they had taken more of the leftovers with them. It was pretty foggy still, so we rode on the beach and avoided the highway. Cold front is coming this afternoon to clear the skies.

We have been traveling over the holidays so I needed to take the scoots out on New Years. My scoot ran great and I even drove the highway a bit. My wife's scoot didn't run so well. I'll make another thread about that.

I missed this thread yesterday (1-1-19) because I spent most of the day off line. Instead I dressed in my AlpineStars riding suit with zip-in insulating liners, balaclava, long-johns, Dakine gloves (Yeah they're pricey ski gloves, but they are wind and water proof... toasty warm too!) boots, FF helmet, and clothing layers. Rode my Reflex scooter to a friend's place only 8 miles away; mostly expressway. (FIRST RIDE OF THE YEAR... WOO HOO!!!) It was only 36° F when I left with the temps forecast to drop to about 22° F. The roads were dry and free of snow since it all got melted from the rain the day before. Stayed for a couple hours and I'm not sure of the temperature when I left, but it was noticeably cooler and starting to snow a little bit. Knowing that expressway traffic can have the tendency to polish the snow to a nice glossiness, I headed for home before there would be enough snow for nice slick strips in the road to be made. Stayed toasty warm the whole time.
The year is off to a very good start here in southeast Michigan... Daytime sunlight hours are getting longer... Spring is on it's way... (or maybe I'm just being too optimistic.)
