Hello everyone, I just got my taotao scooter put together, and followed all of the instructions on the videos, but my handlebars wobble very noticeably right and left. When you grab them, whether it's on or off, just anytime, the handlebars wiggle side to side, not front to back, and it's very hard to control the ride. I'm concerned because no one in the videos looks to be having this problem. I have searched for videos on how to fix this, but everything coming up is for different problems. Does anyone know what is making this happen or what I should look up to fix this? Is it common? Is it dangerous (it feels dangerous lol)?
Thank you all for any help or advice!! 😃

Can be a series of things, can you post a video showing the issue?, it would make it a lot easier diagnosing it.

there is a large nut and bolt holding the handlebars to the neck of the scooter it needs to be TIGHT if you break it its ok just a through bolt that's easy to replace

Didn't have time to post it yesterday, but thanks for any help you can give! If there is a video somewhere of what to tighten that would be most helpful

Thank you, I have that saved to my youtube videos on the taotao already and I checked it, it's as tight as I can get it. It feels secure. I can't figure out where the wiggle is coming from though, still does it. Thank you for replying!

It looks to me like an issue with the ball bearing, it is possible that it cracked and the balls fell off.

I have dealt with a loose headset bearing it doesn't look like that
I strongly recommend stripping those handlebars down so you can see what is happening when it wiggles like that
if its a broken weld then the bar needs replaced or welded

Ladyvexx,
That looseness is ABSOLUTELY not acceptable, and can be dangerous. If you remove the trim, and get down to accessing the bars and where they attach, you should be able to see where the looseness is. As others mentioned, it could be a broken weld which should be visible. Most likely it's simply a piece incorrectly installed, or not fully tightened but your bars must be solid.Once the plastics are removed so you can see where the bars connect to the front fork, you should be able to see what's loose, and fix it. There are only a few relatively simple conditions which can cause that looseness and it should be an easy fix.. Welcome to the site! And DO get those bars solid! We want you around for a long time to enjoy the ride!
