First scooter and its been 3 weeks and i love it. Have done all of the routine maintenance. Valves came tight, other than that no issues! Began custom striping the scoot as well. Funny story..I have been reading the old message boards for 2 weeks now and all of the knowledge Ive gained is from you guys. I have basically taken the whole thing apart and put back together. Interesting enough I have found no restrictions anywhere. Exhaust, carb or variator except my 240 pound frame lol. 35 is tops so far. Will do some weight trials in the variator first. I did add a windshield which helps too. Kept trying to register on the old board for two weeks then it dawned on me that there were no recent posts! I then saw the quick blip on top of the page that you guys moved....feel like a tool Attachments:

Don't feel bad, probably was easy to miss there were no new posts 'cause you were focused on finding the info you needed. But now you can get active advice! >'Kat

[replyingto=sylvrekat]SylvreKat[/replyingto]What....the old site is closed?..well no d@mn wonder it won't let me post over there...I thought all the posts were old cause folks were just too busy out riding... On a serious note....ryan52 on here is a buddy of mine and lives about 3/4 mile down the road from me. He bought 4 brand new Tao Tao Cy50-T3 scoots for his family. As ALL TaoTao's....they come jetted very lean. Don't feel bad about being 240..it is not your scoots speed problem..cause I am a beefy 146lbs myself and the 3 new CY50-T3 TaoTao's I have ridden only carried my bony @ss about 37mph. They were customer scoots and I cut a slot in the tamper proof carb bowl shear screws...and removed the screws with a standard(flat tip) screwdriver. One scoot had a #68 jet the other 2 were #70..wow talk about lean.. Put a #78 in all three and they ran great and about 42mph....all 3 guys are 200+lbs..not like me..a guy who is probably outweighed by Paris Hilton even. Acceleration and top speed were better for them and they say they still get about the same gas mileage..about 90mpg vice 95mpg. BUT...and you will read many posts on this site about it...the lean jetted Tao Tao's burn up and eat pistons quickly if not up jetted. So better to lose 5mpg than an entire engine..

So there is hope! I plan on upgrading the carb and jets too. Can I get a carb with those jets already installed?
Better yet do you have a pic of those tamper proof screws that need to be removed to install the new jet? So far Ive taken out the AF plug and adjusted and runs great so not ready to trash a new carb just to get bigger jets.
