Good morning all. It's been awhile since I posted and long story short I've been busy with raising two grandkids plus have had health issues quite a bit. Recently got over a bad spell of pneumonia plus this coming March I am have shoulder replacement surgery on the left arm with the right one down the road in the future waiting on me. But I'm glad to see all here are doing fine. I'm also the bearer of bad news something I've suspected since last spring and I confirmed it today. Our co-founder Doug known to some as Rebel passed away last year due to complications from cancer. He helped for years on the old Scootdawg forum and helped me set up this forum for all to move to when it finally went down. This saddens me greatly and I did have the pleasure a couple of years back to meet him on a trip to California. I wish I had found out this sooner but contacting someone who knew anything about him was difficult. Please remember him and his family and pray for their loss. Here is a photo we took together while I was visiting. Doug is on the left. In Memory Doug Barker

Thank you jr for letting us know, it wasn't completely unexpected news over on the Rebel forum but sad none the less.

You will be missed by many. It was a privilege to work with you building the images of ScootDawg, Scooter Rebels and It Is The Ride.
The Missus and I are both so glad we got to meet with you in person, here in Grapevine to share forum ideas, riding memories and a good meal. Your vision of It Is The Ride being a friendly, no-bullying venue for all riders of all types of vehicles has been a marvelous format for riders from old guys like ourselves, to the newest, inexperienced members to share information, adventures and advice. The friendly, respectful atmosphere you envisioned spoke well for the entire Internet forum community, and will surely be long-remembered, as you led by example. Thank you for allowing my talents to bring your visions into the graphics which identify these forums. We will be with you again not too far down the line. All our love and prayers for your family and loved ones go out to them in your memory. Ride safe and sound on those beautiful streets of gold, my friend!Betty & Leo in memoriam to Doug... You will be missed!

Learned plenty from his posts across the different forums when I started looking into scooters. Sorry to hear about a good guy from the forums passing away.

Thanks for letting us know, JR. And thanks for posting the link.
He was always nice online, even when he had to step in and get stern. And he's why I'm a founding member--I got to try out the forum before it officially opened. I never understood why he asked this totally non-tech gal who rarely drives her scooter to check out the forum, rather than someone with lots of riding background, or at least computer background. But I was extremely honored and pleased he did! I also enjoyed comparing koi with him--yes, he even could advise (via his wife) about fish!
I've missed Doug. I'm sorry he's gone. But like Leo wrote, enjoy those golden streets, Doug!
