I have a taotao atm50A 139 QMB. What should I gap the intake and exhaust valve at.I have them both gapped at .o04.I had the 100cc big bore kit installed. It starts and runs smoothly no tapping noise. But it lacks mid to high range power. I had a performance muffler on it and it was backfiring and stalling so I put the stock exhaust back on and a stock carb.I have the original carb that was rejetted should I reinstall that with a cone airfilter to get my mids and highs back?

Do you just have on the 50mm bore cylinder and piston assy? or do you have a cylinder head and hot rod cam? Your going to have to jet accordingly to the combination you have now, if you change to another carb with different filtration and or the hot rod exhaust you will have to jet to that combination. There is no one jetting fits all.. good luck

had the 100cc big bore kit installed The downside . . . Folks must realize this mostly happens when boneheads have a clapped out 50cc and people talk him into not installing a new 39mm stock bore 50cc top end but go up to a 50mm bore +11mm's in Bore/Piston size to something like a realistic 82cc.. since the Top end was clapped out how good dos one think the crank is? not a good idea to do any hot rodding at all with that crank. This market seems to be ignorant that going up 11mm in Bore/Piston size sending the crank out to be trued, the pin welded and the rotating assy spun is a Automatic. It doesnt cost as much as one may think to have this done Falicon and Crankworks are two well known companies with very quick turn around time...

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I had the store that I bought the moped at install the 100cc kit. I got no info about it from them, and expected much better performance seeing that the cc,s were doubled. It's a atm 50a 139qmb.So I don't know yet if the head and piston were changed or just the piston.I want this scooter to Rock.Any cost effective applications are welcomed!!

expected much better performance seeing that the cc,s were doubled Final drive ratio remains the same (similar to a single speed bicycle) . . more engine torque for hills and headwinds to maintain speed, but only higher crankshaft RPM's or final drive gear change will significantly increase top speed. Sell it before "she blows", with full disclosure about the BBK, and replace with at least a 125cc scooter.

If all you have had done was go to the Maximum overbore for your Scoot of a 50mm expect very little to nill of a gain. To get the most or what your looking for of a larger displacement one must understand you are putting together a combination of several hot rod parts that all compliment each other to get what you want. The matching 50mm cylinder head, hot rod exhaust, intake, proper jetting to make it all happen And you did Not Double the displacement there is No such thing as a Real 100cc displacement kit for a GY-6 50cc Maximum overbore for your Scoot is 50mm or 81.28cc thats what you have. Pretty darn sad a actually brick and mortar store would stand there and take your money telling you the installed a 100cc kit when there is No Such thing... Here is the math. .7854 x bore x bore x stroke=displacement .7854 x 39 x 39 x 41.4 =49.56cc Stock Bore .7854 x 50 x 50 x 41.4 =81.28cc Maximum Over bore

I found out they charged me $400 to put a 50mm piston in and no matching head because I never rode or knew anything scooters. And then had the balls to charge me $ 100 to re- jet my carb the fucking scumbags thats x t ream toyz in Dracut, MA.for the future unsuspecting!! I'm going to rebuild it myself with a full kit and use it a while and get a 150cc moped. At least I won't feel bad selling a scooter thats going to blow up.I'm just looking for a good quality kit to use in it.If you know some excellent brands to purchase buy all means let me know.I don't want any overpriced products under my balls when I'm riding. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience. I truly do appreciate it.Maybe at some point I can help a new- b like myself not get ripped off.

Does anyone know of a 125 cc that will bolt on the 50cc taotao without rewelding different brackets on the frame? Im short and the 50cc is barely doable for my height. I don't know how much the external size differs.

I don't know how much the external size differs. 125 or 150 there are both a Short Case and Long case and I don't think either will bolt right up to your Scoot. Take some measurements and do some research as there are dimensions I could find online.

I decided to rebuild the engine myself. I'm not a bonehead. I know enough to do some research for this. I'm buying a bbk with matching head and a A9 performance cam witch comes with 3 different jets to match up the engine components. I know the crank also needs to be matched up also. I need to do a little research on that too. That will be my next project. At least I know the bbk will be done right. I don't beat on my scoot so I don't think it will blow up. The crank will be my next winter project. This is my first scoot and rebuild but Im confident about my automotive skills. Any input I will very much appreciate it. I listen to good advice and love knowledge. So hit me up with the advice I'm lovin it. Thanks so much!! Mark

This thread is a reminder WHY selecting a 50cc still remains the most frequent regret!
For others researching . . initially selecting a 125/150cc Bintelli, Sym-Lance, Kymco, or Genuine, and leaving it stock, would have been a MUCH better choice!
