2017 taotao lancer 150, whenever the temp dips below freezing the throttle locks, works again above freezing. Took it off lubricated well to no avail, ordered new one, any ideas

Yep,,,water in the cable housing,,,even a little bit will cause this condition,,,,,you need a cable lube tool,,,it clamps on one end and you flood the sheath with oil,,,but to remove the water use acetone,,,,acetone absorbs water ,,,,high pressure air dry then lube ,,,problem solved

Took it off lubricated well to no avail, ordered new one, any ideas yes, replace the cable. the wire inside theses cables is made of a bundle of finer wires. these fine wires will rust and break over time and will eventually "ball up" inside the sheath. throttle cables should be adjusted for about a quarter inch play on the throttle grip.

I had that happen near the carb. It was frayed. Not fun when you let off the gas and hit the brakes, only to have the scoot keep going cuz the throttle is stuck open.

I can recommend bicycle brake cable housing it's made of a single square steel wire wound around a plastic liner it cannot fray mostly its stock on the scooters i have worked on
