Hello guys, how hot a 125 4 stroke can get? My scoot that i buy 2 months ago as a project is finally finish but i think the engine gets very hot quick like after only 10-15 min of riding, i know that because of the lack of power after some time of riding it and the engine is just damn hot, it's 25 C around all summer here maybe 30 sometimes, the oil is new also the gear oil, is it normal or just me?

is the shroud all there? is the fan on it? i have seen people riding with no plastic on the front of the engine and it causes them to overheat. they do run hot because they are air cooled and when it is high temps outside they tend to run hot. if it is losing power after it gets hot then you have a possible overheating issue and need to make sure the oil pump is working and the fan is blowing air through to the top end of the engine.

Pretty sure the oil pump is good but i will check it next week when i have the time, about the fan cover i have it there because yes as you say it help the cooling. Also i will put syntetic oil since when i change it i have only mineral, maybe that it will help, and try not riding it like i use to do. Lol

Mineral oil runs much hotter than synthetic, i had a fuel injected 125 that would overheat if i used mineral oil and it was fine once i switched.

It is far more likely to be a lean condition causing your scooter to run hot, than your choice of engine oils.
You say this is a project bike.....have you modified or removed the air intake system? Not knowing what your set up is now, or what parts have been changed or modified.....we are in the dark, and can only guess as to what's wrong.

I put new air filter, all the hoses fuel/ air replace with new also, but my mistake is also that i create this thread before i have the time to take a look at the carb and do also some adjustments to the air/fuel flow, the scoot has 11.000 km so i think it needs a carb adjust, i plan to keep it original only replace something if it's broken and keep it cheap with the parts because sooner or later this will be my donor scooter for my main ride, If you know how to make a carb adjust so it will be not lean but not so rich i will apreciate because i'm clumsy person, the carb is pretty common chinese one with the air screw located on the side with the transmision and the fuel one with the exhaust, Dany

The engine sounds and drive good, you say i can be running lean so if i play with the air screw it will help or something else i can do?

Adjusting the idle mixture screw will only help an idle problem. Start with the basics.....read this and its highlighted links.... Lean condition
