Yeah I have heard that some do limit the rpms, but I was under the impression that it would limit them to excessive speeds. Like, this scooter should be able to do 30 from the factory. Its barely doing 20.

hmm so other than the top speed the scooter runs fine with the cdi that makes it run slower?

OK I recently purchased a SYM Symply 2 50 cc chinese scooter. I believe its the exact same as an E-ton Sport 50. The problem I am having is that it will only go about 20 mph. It seems to be running well. I adjusted the valve lash, set both to .004 in. It has a new belt. I checked the roller weights, they looked ok for the most part, a couple had minor flat spots. So the first thing I did was try it with 3 of the 6 weights in the variator...still slow, still only does about 20 but revs higher. I am just at a loss with this thing...Would heavier weights help? What about the spring in the rear pully clutch, is there a way to check this to make sure its working properly? I removed it and i can move it in and out with my hands and it is stiff. The other thing is the battery is stone dead, ive been jump starting it, could this give me weak spark or something resulting in less power? I know these things come restricted from the factory, but even so this thing should be able to do more than 20 from the factory. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!
