Both of these blokes hAve lived far beyond life expectancy, considering the lifestyle of rockstars. Both quite macho in that respect.

American Lifan has also joined the Grom class arms race with the KP mini. 150cc and a 5 speed tranny, Sounds familiar. The KP mini looks to have a shorter wheelbase than the Kymco Spade, and the the KP is lighter and should cost less. americanlifan.com/motorcycles/kp-mini/

I thought about the Mustangs as well when I saw the Kymco Spade. I don't know if CSC is still selling them. Hard tail bikes are a tough sell around Houston with our cratered concrete streets and highways.

I predict that the Kymco Spade will launch an "Arms Race" among the small wheeled motorcycles, similar to what has happened in the 250cc class. While the K-Pipe is $1000 cheaper, it looks more like a classic moped than motorcycle, to me. I think the 5 speed gearbox and modern appearance will propel Spade sales well past the K-Pipe.

American Pickers was where I saw that engine start too. It definitely got me ready for Memorial Day.

P&W R-4360 Wasp Major, 28 cylinder engine that powered the Corsair, Spruce Goose and others. ""Although reliable in flight, the Wasp Major was maintenance intensive. Improper starting technique could foul "all 56 spark plugs", which would require hours to clean or replace."" -Makes you appreciate the SMax engine a little more. I saw them start one of these engines on TV last week so I couldn't resist posting something similar. Notice how the engine operator stands in a protective enclosure in case that engine spits out a piston or valve.

I wouldn't use anything with more pressure than the garden hose. The electronics may take a long time to dry out if you get them wet.

I remember riding my Kawasaki 100cc dirt bike on the local trails during the 1970s. A friend joined us on the trails with his Honda 160cc twin. -The Honda looked dated, front end heavy, and poorly suited to off roading. -We were surprised how well the Honda twin handled the trails. I got schooled that day. -If he added a high exhaust to that twin, he could have gone anywhere we went. My other chum was riding a Yamaha DT 175.

Those Honda twins, as small as 160cc, provided basic transportation for young Americans througout the 1960s and 1970s, and maNY are still on the road. That engine has been in production in various forms for over a half century. That's pretty good engineering.

Emissions has a lot to do with the replacement of classic, proven engines. I suppose controlling emissions is much easier with an ecu and O2 sensor loop.
