Double check all lines. Like I said, not a scooter guy but I just finished googling "gy6 carb" and it shows a dozen images of lines and their respective connecting nipples. The lights are probably just flickering because the engine is dropping out from fuel starvation. Somebody did something wrong. Did you ride it between any of the repairs? This would tell you which of them is done wrong.

Apparently, you folks weren't alive during the Bush administration. He liked to make up words. It wasn't intended to be a forum fight, for crissakes, it's a game. Google Strateegery and Bush, you'll understand...

Dude these bikes are so goofy. I took some panels off to put the shield back on- it looked like a retarded road bike without- and found some of the panels were rubbing on a really badly welded support column for the nose. I trimmed a tiny piece, no rattle from there. I inserted dum-dum between panels I removed, tiny pieces of course, as I could not locate my stupid felt tape. I plan to grind and reweld that support this weekend. I hot glued the windshield to seal it to the body panel, as the previous owner had apparently velcroed it due to tabs breaking. No more windshield rattle. Also found the gas tank to be loose during valve adjustment- resecured. No more squeaky rattle.
Man, the bike fits together like legos- kinda awesome. I took the handlebar panels off and hotglued the screw supports, as they had also twisted off somehow. I then proceeded to paint them silver with radiator paint. Now that doesn't rattle. The bike is rumbly at stoplights occasionally, I am assuming this is normal as idle is set approximately where it ought to be. Anyone who knows better (which could literally be everyone, as I am a moron), please educate me.
In response to the question of RP price, the quart bottle cost me $9.99. I have a commercial account (read: phony) at O'Reilly's, and get a hefty discount on parts, but those douches never discount fluids. I am still happy that a full synthetic tune cost me less than $60 and the little bike hauls my fat 250 lbs around at decent speeds.
I plan to ziptie stitch, hotglue, weld, loctite, and dum-dum my way through this entire bike until all I can hear is the purr of the engine. I would also like to buy a nice exhaust (not egay garbage) and perhaps a larger jetted carburetor if rejetting is not cost effective. I need to do more research, but for now this bike seems fantastic. The only other bike I owned was a 1978 Batavus 50cc moped, and obviously this bike is a step up in fanciness and rideability.

Adjusted valves, replaced plug with NGK Iridium, changed out brake fluid with synthetic DOT4, changed engine oil out with Royal Purple, changed out trans oil with synthetic, inflated tires properly. Added zip tie stitches to repair where previous owner dumped bike. Bike rattles - gonna felt tape the heck outa everything. Question: With? Without?

Hello, I just bought a JMStar after researching around, including here. Runs pretty well, had a WAY high idle when I bought it, causing the clutch to engage. Turned the idle down, runs rough, guess I'll do what is recommended under PDI around here and adjust valves, do tune up, etc.
Anybody like/hate/ have tips for these scooters? I'll post some pics a little later.
