Hello there Alleyoop. I've seen you around in the forums giving great advice. I will try to be active in taking it.
Clicking...hmmm.. I'd say yes to that, but only at the first couple of presses with the ignition. The low 'electrical discharge Taser noise is combined with a clicking noise that frequents every half to a full second.
Question about the Solenoid: Is there another name common for it? I don't see this part labeled as such in the any manuals I have. Wikipedia shows this in a generic term, but not related to auto parts. I'll comb the Ignition system in the manual and see if I can match a part like it, and how to open up the bike to see it. More tools I will need!
I will be gathering tools for a bit, which will make my replies a bit stretched out.

My lady has her bike unable to start, sometimes. Other times it starts fine.
We have a Sym HD 200 2010 Model, and right now We know a few things.
We had someone at the battery store check our battery with a multimeter, and it has an expected output of X Volts, X being the battery Voltage.
We hear a electrical noise when hitting the ignition/starter button, sort of like a taser going off, but quieter. The low 'electrical discharge Taser noise is combined with a clicking noise that frequents every half to a full second. No Engine turning noise going on. The lights dim when the ignition and the throttle are applied, but at least the lights/brake lights come on at all. The throttle, when applied during the ignition, does not motivate the engine to turn. The engine kill switch is 'on'
The battery itself has a small history: Prior to this problem, the bike started OK, but often required the throttle to start. Colder weather seemed, but not conclusively, increase its resistance. 2 Days Ago; the bike failed to start, even though the bike had been used the previous day for several hours. 1 Day ago, the bike ran fine, started fine. Today, the Bike ran fine for a half an hour ride. Then it failed to start after only sitting for 2 hours past a ride that lasted for a half an hour. I can't keep it on a tender everyday, as its not feasible. The battery is about 1 year old, from a store bought off the shelf. They did not 'mix and seal it' for us.
Some things I want to learn. How to check, using a multimeter, for if the ignition is 'bad' somehow. Wires are a mystery to me for know. How to Operate and read a Multimeter How to jump a bike with the solenoid, I keep reading about it on the forums, this seems the hardest. Familiarize myself with simple wiring on the bike that I can check without major tools Familiarize myself with more complex wiring on the bike that I can check Understanding how the ignition system works.
Tools I need: A multimeter.

I did just that, and the battery fit. I now own a motorcycle again. The thing is, When I looked at the original battery and the new one side by side, they appeared identical. Obviously not though.

Figured it out, The battery holder has two molded plastic pieces that stick outwards. They are part of the slots that hold that back plate in. The one that is screwed in, but can be removed. It has two pieces on either side of the battery container jutting inwards, and these are what is keeping the battery from fitting correctly. There must be a couple of grooves on the SYM batteries that allow them to settle down. I recycled my battery already, otherwise I would check.
I am thinking I may chop them down a bit at the bottom of the container, to allow a normal battery to sit correctly.
Any words on this by others is appreciated.

I may have been acting really stupid, but I have to ask here if anyone else has had this problem with batteries.
YTX9-BS is listed as my battery type by the Service Manual GTX9-BS was what was attached to my bike.
XTAX9-BS is the new battery, but it doesn't fit. It sits too high in the battery box. Even the plastic Battery leads cover thing that comes with the bike sits too high.
I went to a 'Batteries Plus' Shop, and got an x2-9 series battery. I put it into the battery box, and it was TOO TALL. This makes no sense, as side by side, the battery has the dimensions the GTX9-BS. The GTX9 is even a smidge taller. I return the battery and get a XTAX9-BS. But the same problem. I must be doing it wrong, since I was told the '9' in the name signified a specific form factor. This makes sense to me, as the batteries were the same size.
Do I need a YTX9-BS or a GTX9-BS? I must be doing it wrong...
