sounds like your battery is at the end of its life, take it to auto zone and let them charge it and see if itll hold for any amount of time

good call, do you think it could be the valves seeing as the PO used to ride it around with the exhuast just dangling

49cc gy6
bought it in rough shape, PO had done some really dumb stuf to it
he disconnected the exhaust and road it around like that, he upgraded the carb and said it ran better, he only road it 10 times and said it took at least an hour to start every time, then he let it sit for a year
i couldnt get it started, the kick start is really rough and wont return
i ordered a new battery and charged it up and installed it
the electric start churned very well, but no ignition
i checked the spark plug and got good spark
i sprayed some carb and choke cleaner in the carb and tryd to start, the thing wanted to start soooo bad and even acted like it would but died after like a second
i repeated the process several times with the same response
so i put the stock carb on and checked for any kind of squirt when i jigled the throttle, barly any so i cranked it hard like 20 times and then tryed to start
it started! and ran for like 11 seconds and died no matter how hard i rev'd it
i figured it might be the vacume lines, so i eliminated them completely by going from the fuel filter strait to the carb and it ran!! for like 20 seconds and i could ride it to the end of the drive way (it ran like crap and was sooo slow) and it would die.
at this point i was just thinking it was lots of crap in the lines and stuff from sitting, so i replaced all the gas and just kept riding it for 20 seconds at a time
i found some screws that would fit the exhuast and reattached it
i started it and road it up the road and whenever it would start to die i would put my feet down and run as hard as i could and that would revive it.
but any time i try to turn it around it would die...
any low rpms and it wants to die...
what could be the problem?

thats what i had planned to do, no it does not start but the PO had removed the kick start and made it only electric start which did no good with the battery dead, i put the kick start back and tryd to kick i,.. it went down with little resistance and didnt retract, like it needed to be lubed or most likely replaced

so im new to scooters but not new to engines and modding, ive worked on honda's since i was 16, but never small engines like this, i bought this off a coworkers. he bairly got the thing to run, and it only ran 10 times, he decided it was too hard to start and gave up on it, so it sat for about a year. b4 he let it sit he just started throwing money at it trying to fix the problem, ie, he bought a bigger carb with the air filter slapped right on and got rid of the air box, he upgraded the coil pack and the revlimiter, he also spaced the exhaust. now, i havnt had a chance to work on it but it would not start when i tried, i have ordered a new battery and have decided rather than down grading all the mods currently on it, why not just buy a BBK and make use of the bigger carb and coil/rev limiter? what are your thoughts? all info appreciated!!!!
