My 2007 BV 500 is having trouble starting initially. It didn't have these issues when I bought it, but there were some running, stalling issues due to old fuel left in the tank for too long. I used 2 bottles of fuel cleaner to deal with this. Both diluted to match the amount per gallon. Didn't add the whole bottle to what is only a 3.5 gallon tank. Could this have caused the issue? Could the idle adjusting screw be too low? I adjusted it thinking maybe that was the issue when I first got it, until I realized it was the old gas, and added the fuel cleaner. Could the idle adjustment be too low? The bike is fuel injected, but it still has idle adjustment, which would to a point control how much gas is put into the combustion chamber at ignition. Maybe that is too low?
I changed the spark plug. Didn't solve the issue. New battery also didn't solve the issue. New air filter didn't solve the issue either.
Usually I push ignition for 3 seconds, and doesn't start, so I wait 5 seconds, and then it usually starts, but not always. Sometimes I need to give it a slight bit of gas. This is after sitting over night.
After driving it, and turning off for a short period up to an hour it starts right up normally. If sits for 2 hours need push ignition for 3 seconds usually, wait 5 seconds, and then starts right up.
I'm wondering if the fuel cleaner treatment damaged, or fouled something. No idea. Any advice, or insight greatly appreciated.
