i've heard you can burn up the valve riding without exhaust. i don't know if that's fact though.

I believe the valves were adjusted 5-6 months ago. I will check out those tutorials though. Thank you! it's possible they are fine but your symptoms sound valve related. a new chinese scooter will need more valve adjustments. the soft metal causes the valves to become tight. on my old atm50 i adjusted the valves every 1000km. the metal on that scoot was like butter. as they age the metal strengthens and you won't need to do them as often.

I do not do my own maintenance, I have the shop where I bought it work on it so I'm not sure the belt brand. When it runs it feels like it is stalling somewhat and it doesn't really accelerate like it used to. if you have the time to learn and do your own work then it's worth fixing. when was the last time the valves were adjusted? i would adjust valves first then tune the carb. follow the procedure in this thread: itistheride.boards.net/thread/12/4ts-carb-tuningif your air/fuel ratio screw is plugged: itistheride.boards.net/thread/7285/fuel-ratio-screw-plugged-unplug

A clutch and belt were recently replaced and it ran perfectly for a few weeks after, but now it is starting to run a little weird again. I'm not sure if this is just because it is old or because it has a lot of miles, but it doesn't run and isn't as fast as it used to be. 2 belts in 4000 miles is very unusual. what brand belt? can you be more specific with the symptoms? "run a little weird" is a little hard to diagnose.

if it were an older vespa 2t or lambretta i'd throw some dough at it,,10 year old chinese,,,i'd walk,,,unless it was a seriously stupid low price,,,like under $300 stupid This. If it is not stolen, and if it runs, no more than $200-300. There are plenty of idiots who think their low mileage chinese bikes are worth twice that, but you shouldn't bite. You might still be able to get it titled if not stolen, and it looks like a great hunter-style parts bike. yeah, low mileage doesn't mean much imo. depending on how it was stored parts can wear out just as fast if not faster. if it was in great condition, doesn't need anything... road ready and had title then i could justify $300 but imo a 10 year old chinese scooter without papers just isn't worth that much.

90GTVert vids are the best imo for anything related to a 50cc scoot. i spent numerous hours watching his vids when i had my atm50.

most shops won't give you back the old parts unless you request. i'd go get it a.s.a.p.

2) would a performance cdi and coil, air filter and drilling my current exhuast offer much more performance gain than a bbk? I am really looking for low end torque.! does this scoot have a tachometer? do you know your max rpm? you can gain a lot of low end torque by installing lighter weights if your max rpm is under 7500. much cheaper and easier than a bbk.

I personally would change the oil again now, you said did go for a 10 mile ride, and then I would change again after 50 ~ 100 miles. wow, good thing i did the oil change now. i thought the 2 flushes would have got all or at least most of the debris. figured i was just doing it to get more diesel out of the engine so it's not in there eating away at my gaskets. must have been a teaspoon of permatex fragments and the oil was noticeably darker after only 10 miles. think i might do it again in another 10 miles.
