Thank you so much for your wonderful help. I haven't had the opportunity to get to work on my moped lately due to family emergencies for the last week or two. Plus low funds don't help either. I am definitely glad to have this forum bookmarked and saved and wonderful people helping me figure out my moped since it's foreign ground to my husband and I. Again, thank you and I will try to keep updates on my progress.

[replyingto=ridecheap]ridecheap[/replyingto]Awesome. Thank you. At least that's a better start than I have had. I feel like I've tried everything and gotten nowhere. Also, any ideas on why it would be leaking oil?!

I think my biggest problem right now is making sure I find the right battery to try and get it running to see what/where any issues are. If I can get the right battery, I think that will be one step closer to getting this thing up and running!! I just don't want to get a battery that doesn't have enough power or one that has too much. I thought it would be pretty simple getting a battery, but without a prior battery or a manual, it's been a little rough. I greatly appreciate everyone's help though! twistedburnout: My moped was missing the filter and main outer covering for the air breather, I believe that's what I found it was called.....will I still need to look at what you said to do? (Obviously I'm completely clueless and lost.....ha ha.)

Well, we are pretty certain it's a 2-stroke motor. But when I get the chance, I can see if I can get the numbers off the motor. Thank you so much for your help so far. At least it's a start!

Hello all! So, I have joined in hopes that someone, somewhere can help me on my quest! I have recently purchased, secondhand, a Geely JL50QT-16 moped in need of repair. My husband and I were thrilled to have a little project and I was thrilled to have something fun to cruise around on. Trouble is, it didn't come with an owner's manual and it's been somewhat of a struggle to find the parts we need to fix it to be running and functional again. Needless to say, my husband is now slightly upset with the purchase and of course saying we must have made a mistake in buying it. I, myself am not quick to give up, so I'm hoping that someone can help me get this up and running!! (I hope...pretty, pretty please!!!) As if it isn't obvious, I am new to all of this. And if it helps, I am going to list all the parts we need to repair/fix the moped. *Mirrors (I think we found some, but want to be sure they're correct...they are univeral 8mm....but I've found some that are also REVERSE thread...what does that mean?!) *Air filter housing and air filter *Battery (It didn't come with one, so we didn't have any to compare to, and without a manual, it's been hard to figure out which one it is. The best I can find is a 12V 4aH....) *Gas cap cover (Not sure what else to call this. It's the part that covers the gas cap and the lock so that way the lock is actually functional and not just an option....) *Right front wheel bar cover (Again, unsure what to call it. It's the plastic bit that just covers the bar that holds the wheel. More cosmetic than functional.) *And if at all possible, an ACTUAL manual for this darn thing! I have found one online, but unsure if it is actually going to be any benefit to us in working on this.... I can say, I didn't think repairing this moped into working order would be such a hard process, but it has been. Any information on any of the parts I need would be much appreciated and VERY awesome!!
