Thats why i went w/white and aimed the lights down and out of sight of other vehicles. Red would probably look good too, I just wasn't sure of the legality of colored bulbs in NY. Pics should be working now, just gotta copy/paste the whole link including the stuff after the @ symbol.

Thanks. I got mine from a eBay seller by the name of heymanspeedmotor for under $3. Shipping was way faster than the 3 weeks they had originally quoted. I still have a few left. I might toss them in the engine bay too.

I wanted to increase my visibility because I do a lot of night riding (cue the hasslehoff jokes) Also, my rear running lamp has been turning off intermittently making it a bit dangerous in the dark. So, I came up with a cheap and moderately easy mod. I purchased a string of 72 automotive LEDs, sealed and waterproof. And able to be cut into smaller sections (in increments of 3 LEDs) The rear running lamps consist of a strip of 12 lights at the top, 9 at the bottom and a smaller strip of 3 to illuminate my plate. I ran a line from the back to the front and tapped into the wiring harness for the headlight. Next, running down each of the sides are a strip of 15 LEDs pointed at the road. I was able to tuck these between the frame and the plastics and attach them with zip ties and 3M double sided tape. Finally, in the front fairing, each side got a strip of 6 LEDs at the same angle as the suspension and pointing down so as not to be obtrusive to oncoming drivers, but enough to light up the road a bit. I drilled and recessed these so that the top of the lights are flush with the plastic of fairing. The front and sides were wired to a switch opposite of ignition. All in all, I'm happy with the results so far. Not sure how much of a burden on the charging system it'll be yet, but I think it should be ok since my rear running lamp was dead anyways. (Tried two new bulbs, no luck ) Attachments:

Bringing back up an old post. I bought an 08 wildfire (because it had paperwork) and finally got it on the road about 3 weeks ago. With the stock motor on it with race cdi and exhaust it was only hitting 28 mph. So opted to swap in my engine w/the BBK installed. Before the swap I was able to track down my oil leak, double checked the timing and valves and everything looked right on. But now I'm still only getting 28-30 Mph!!! I know it should be doing way better than that. At WOT the rpms sound really low. If I'm going down a hill the rpms pick up but the speed doesn't
I'm at a loss. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks again.

*Update* So I swapped in a # jet and it cranked right over. I hit 35MPH before running outta road. It's not registered yet so didn't wanna go too far from home. It could probably use another a/f adjustment, but I'm leaving it as-is for now. Thanks again for all the help.

Yeah. I'm not sure. About the only things left stock is the crank clutch and gears. I thought 20-30 was what these are rated for which is why I went for the BBK. I was hoping to get 40-45MPH outta her.

So I took it all back apart and checked the timing. I don't think it could be any better. If I moved the chain on up or down even 1 tooth on the sprocket, it'd be way outta time. I double checked the valves and made slight adjustments, and now I'm getting nothing. Spark, but not firing. It is a new carb so I'm thinking air/fuel? The plug was wet w/gas (not oil) I'm not sure how it was set from the factory so I don't know where to start with that. My brand new kick start is already messed up so I've gotta come up w/a way to fix that too. Gotta get a battery before I can troubleshoot the e-start.

Ok. It backfires too (just a little pop, not stalling) when I let off the gas so the more I think about it, seems it's probably a cam/timing thing. I should probably just grab an A9 cam while I've got it open.

Looks like the BBK main jet was only # (which I thought was the stock size) so Ill probably grab a # or a # reguardless of the cam. There's a few on eBay now. Which would be best for in town 30-45mph? As far as the rings go, I measured them against the ones from the old piston and they were almost identical outta the box and went on without a problem. I didnt have to file them, and made sure they were all in different directions. But a compression test is probably in order anyways. What's an acceptable range? It starts up with 2-3 easy kicks so I didn't think that was an issue. But I have been known to be wrong from time to time. Sorry for the noobishness. I'm still figuring these things out. Thanks again for all the replies.

Thanks guys. I put the stock weights (6.5 I believe) back in and it made no difference. Im not sure the size of the jet but I sent a message to the seller to double check. I'll check the cam tomorrow. I spent a while making sure it was right on though...

Hi guys. As posted on the other forum, I went and grabbed a "100cc" BBK from eBay. Came with carb, piston, head, cylinder, exhaust, "racing" CDI ( , performance coil, 8 gram rollers, free flow filter, BBK main jet. The whole shebang. Install went well, but wouldn't fire. Anyways, after replacing stator and flywheel, replacing faulty racing CDI (02starrider on ebay. Can't recommend them enough, great prices/service) I managed to get the scoot up and running. The problem now is the speed. Pre-BBK I was getting 22-25MPH. Now, I'm only getting 18-20MPH. I know I've gotta break it in so I'm not cracking on it WOT(Although it only had 300 original miles to start) But if I go past 2/3 throttle it bogs down and the revs pulsate but the speed stays the same I adjusted the carb (idle and air/fuel) so it starts pretty easily and idles great. Did I miss something? Rollers too heavy? Kinda at a loss. $300 later and worse off. (But the exhaust looks and sounds a lot better. Lol)
