[replyingto=terrilee]terrilee[/replyingto]Thanks Teddy. I'll see about what kind of engine is in it. How should I go about upjetting it. The carb has cheap screws that strip instead of unscrewing. It's going to take some time to get it open. What size jets should I get and where should I look to find them?

Hello, I am new to this website and am fairly inexperienced in the field of working on scooters so I hope you guys can help me out. I have a 2008 baja sc50. When I first got the scooter it only went 30 on flats and 10 uphill which was very annoying. So i tried to mess with it to go faster. I cut off the restrictive air box and put on an aftermarket air filter. That didn't do much. It starts and idles a lot better now but the the acceleration is worse and it only goes to 25 on flats now. There was a vacuum hose going from the valve cover to the old air box. I cut a small hole in the tubing between the new filter and the carbuerator and stuck it in there. I don't think that has anything to do with it but idk.
After weeks of Googling acceleration issues for my scooter I found that the poor acceleration is usually due to heavy roller weights. To try to fix it I bought 5.9 gram roller weights and installed them in the variator. After all of that my moped is now even worse. LOL! It does 5 uphill and 20 on flats. I think the stock roller weights are lighter than the ones I put in.
So here is what I'm thinking, I might try putting 3 gram roller weights in it ( lightest ones I can find on Amazon), new clutch springs ( please tell me which ones to get, I've seen 1000 rpm and 2000 rpm springs), or I might try adjusting the valves ( if that can even help doubt it) Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks
Note: I want to go 40 on flats and be able to go up hills at decent speeds. Nothing crazy so I don't want to do any expensive mods like bbk's.
Also: Besides the roller weights and air filter everything is stock, I've never opened up the carb to clean it or try to rejet it, and the valves have never been adjusted.
