The scooter is an 80cc Italica 2010 4 strokes. The problem started a little over a month ago when the scooter suddenly started bogging down and dying with any amount of throttle. It would turnover and idle, but the idle was not steady/consistent, and the whole thing would die if I touched the throttle. I tried cleaning the carb (and inspecting the diaphragm and O-rings, which were fine), adjusting the valves to .004 (intake) and .005 (exhaust), replacing the spark plug and air filter, checking the compression (which was good), replacing the vacuum line with clear tubing to check for gas (there wasn't any), and cleaning out the fuel tank and lines since there was a small amount of water separation in one of the lines. But after all that, I still had the same bogging down problem. I figured it was a permanently clogged/blocked passageway in the carb, possibly due to the water in the fuel line, and ended up getting a new $25 carb meant for 50-80cc scooters. I put the old jets (main jet , don't see any marking on the pilot) into the new carb (came with an 80 main jet), but it would not start. The only way I could get it to start was by taking off the air filter and spraying starter fluid directly into the carb, but it would die after 5-10 seconds once the starter fluid burned off. After tinkering around with it for 2 weeks without success, I gave up and bought a different model $25 carb, hoping that the first one I bought was faulty. But this second carb won't start either (I switched the ninety main jet, and ?? pilot jet into that one too). Last week, I tried putting the original carb that was on the bike when it started bogging down back on, and it was able to start, but was still bogging down with throttle. Today I tried putting it back on again and it won't start. So as of today, I have 3 carbs, none of which will start the scooter, except for a few seconds if I use starter fluid. Any suggestions on other things to look for?
