i had a similar "problem" with my seat, but it wasn't a stuck lock, it was a lost key. and i had to get the seat open because the gas tank was under it. i looked around on the scoot, and removed some plastics around the back end of the seat. i found i could get some wrenches on the locking mechanism bolts. since i didn't use the seat bin for anything, i disabled the locking mechanism and then reinstalled it. It's weird, but I was able to get the seat open the first day I got home from the hospital. Had to get the VIN, luckily. After that, nothing. I'll have to try the other approach sometime when I'm not worn out from work. I even texted the seller for help but he hasn't replied, of course. |

. . . technically I'm not supposed to be working on the scooter in the parking lot here. i lived at a place like that. the apartment manager had a motorcycle, so he was lenient on me. it was the other tenets that threw the hissy fit. i remember one summer, it was blazing hot outside, close to 100F, and my bike just refused to start. i propped open the front door to the complex, then wheeled my bike right into the apartment. i had a tiled concrete floor, so spills wasn't a problem. i had it stripped naked for about 2 weeks while i poured over the electrics. it was definitely worth it too. i screwed up though. during the rewiring job i somehow let a wire get looped around my forks. it got caught up against the fork stops and eventually frayed. it wasn't enough to blow any fuses, but it was enough that i couldn't get over about 10MPH. maybe you can do the same, while you are convalescing you can wheel your bike into the apartment and work on it. there is probably nothing in your lease that says you can't. I would if we didn't have carpet and didn't live on the 2nd floor, lol. Good idea, though. Luckily, the leasing staff are a little lenient with me, so I should be able to work on it as long as it's during the day. Ran it for a couple minutes today, because I haven't ran it for at least a week, and she still runs fine. STILL can't get the darn seat open, though!  |

I attempted to get the dash out, but the one screw in the way back is at such an angle that my screwdrivers couldn't get at it. Then I kept losing screws as I was putting the dang thing back together. Had to grab a bit of my tv antenna to free one of the screws that fell. If the one scooter shop in town wasn't so set against Chinese scooters, I could have this taken care of when I get the money for it, since technically I'm not supposed to be working on the scooter in the parking lot here.

the clouded dash lens can probably be replaced with a piece of plexiglass. it depends on how good the OEM dash is put together and how much time/effort you are willing to spend on it. you will need some type of sealer/ glue. if you decide to paint over the orange "spot", and you can't get an exact paint match, then either repaint all the cream colored areas or at least both sides of the bike, it will be less noticeable. sorry to hear about your spill, i've had a couple myself, once for trying a tight turn, the other was at a stop sign when the other driver failed to yield. a friend of mine dumped his ride on mud and the kickstand kickdown peg almost chewed his leg off. ghastly. you don't need to be going fast to be seriously injured. I wasn't going fast at all, either! It will go a bit at maybe 2 or 3mph, then just bolt ahead. i have to get that fixed somehow. I wanted to get bigger rollers to curb the acceleration (that was the plan from the start), but I'll have to wait for the next couple paychecks for that (rent always takes quite a bit of my checks). I might keep the orange sticker (thanks to the tow company who were persuaded not to tow it by my leasing manager, bless her), just to keep it as a reminder not to park it at trees, lol. It adds personality, lol. The dash will need to be taken care of asap. I could take the dash off, and look at it and see if I can just clean it and put it back. If not, i can get a new piece for it. I do have time at the moment. Maybe I can get round to it tomorrow, since it's my last day before I go back to work. I'll still have time (and daylight) after work, but i might be too tired from it, as usual. |

Figured I'd update everyone on my recovery. My jaw wasn't responding to the rubber bands so i had to go back into surgery to get that taken care of last week, and get the bones lined up properly. Unfortunately, it still isn't working as I hoped. Not enough rubber bands, methinks. The lower teeth aren't lining up with the top teeth on my left side. I'm seeing my jaw doctor on Tuesday so i hope he can fix it somehow without another freaking surgery. I'm supposed to go back to work on Wednesday, but I'm just going to be cleaning the place up the whole time (We have an inspection coming up in a week or so), so my mouth won't be offending people, lol. My elbow is healing up pretty well. I still can't lift, push, or pull anything with the arm, but I can still do little things normally. No sling needed. My left knee was bruised up pretty bad, and still is a bit sore and still bruised, almost a month after the accident. Still waiting for the day I can finally get back on the horse, with helmet and riding gear on, of course. I might have a few questions when i get riding again, but I'll post those elsewhere. In the meantime, I'll post some pics of the scooter. Might need to figure out how to clear up the dash, as you can see in the pics it's clouded up. Also can't get the dang seat open. i was able to get it open once I got it home, to get the VIN needed, but it won't open anymore. The sticker was from when I parked it to a tree, which apparently wasn't allowed (Hey, I didn't want it stolen while I was in hospital!), but I parked it elsewhere. I've ridden it a bit around the parking lots just to keep the engine going, at least until I run out of fuel, lol (Nearest gas station is a mile away). I got a closeup of the damage from the accident. Luckily, it was mostly cosmetic, but I think I lost the kick start cos I can't find it!        |

I tested a Gigabyke electric scooter a couple months ago at a local shop. Was pretty fun. Pretty zippy. Perfect for the bike lanes here in Tucson. $1500 or so total. Shame I couldn't save enough cash, hence me getting my 150cc instead.

Thanks, man. Still liquids only. I've never hated straws so much, lol. Tomorrow should be the day I get the dang rubber bands off my teeth and I'll be back to eating normally. Luckily I landed on gravel or else I would've had a lot more injuries. The elbow is still on the mend and should heal.

Hi all. Been a long time. Well, it finally happened. I finally bought a scooter. I got an '08 Diamo Retro 150 off CL this week, but needs a bit of work, mostly in the acceleration. Unfortunately, its finickiness landed me in hospital for a couple days. Took a left turn and the throttle didn't want to respond so well. I gave it a little too much and ended up spilling onto the gravel. Broke my elbow and jaw. Don't worry, I'm okay and in good spirits. I needed some time off from work anyway, lol. Just wanted to say hello again and glad to finally have a scoot, even if I have to wait until I'm fully recovered from my injuries. Should be a couple more weeks.
