I did order mine from them (TXPOWERSPOTRS.COM) a 2017 Tao Tao Powermax VIP 150cc 157QMJ Blue/Sliver. She is a blast. Ordered it on a Friday got it on the following Thursday and the title cam the following Monday. Great service and the package/box was in great shape. I will give them two thumbs up. Thanks for your review as it helped me decide.

Just purchased the Tao Tao Powermax VIP 150cc 157QMJ and getting her broke in. I want to have this scooter run a smooth low rpm 60 mph (GPS) and top out at 70 mph (GPS). I want to leave the motor alone and work around gears/tires/variator setups to achieve my goal. I will do the regular plug change coil cdi and synthetic oil after break in. So far she is great. I have shown 58 mph (GPS) on a slight decline tucked and grinning. I can feel the power starting to come in with the break in right now. I am using Rotella 15/40 diesel oil in the crank case and Valvoline 75/ gear oil. I will use synthetic and an once or less Lucas Oil Stabilizer after break in. I have been looking into tires and see I have 120/70/12 stock and plan on 140/70/12 or 155/80/12 car tire (Yes the dark side). Chime in and lets have some fun. Heedehcheenuh Chuck D Ride on.....

Here she is. just finished the oil change and gear oil change. I will do it again around 600 miles. I think she is good to go. I ran 40 mph gps and speedo showed 40 mph so I may have got lucky. Toped out on one hit trying to help break in she hit 65+ mph but I was to busy watching the road lol I am doing the throttle on and off to help with seating the rings. Welcome Chuck First thank you for your Military service. Ive done many mod's to my 150, and need to tell you that 70-75mph is down right dangerous on that chassis. I had mine top out at 69.5 gps and its a darn sketchy scary ride in that chassis suspension form, the Front Forks are only held on by a Top Clamp set-up. a very flexi frame, I did upgrade my Rear shocks and stiffened them up. it helped by I have no desire to ride one of these constantly above 60mph. And yes I will have to admit I am using the Synthetic Lucas Stabilizer in my Scoot with Royal Purple as the main engine oil, I'm running a experiment on the Lucas as I have all the components for a +2.2mm Stroke and 61mm Big bore, I want to see the results of the Lucas when I take her down for the upgrade. Piston dude is annal on his oil changes and valve lash, my 150 is a Very Quite Smooth running motor. I can provide you links to all of my upgrades from the CVT to Exhaust, please just ask here or in a pm. Oh and Im just North of you in Randleman NC. I have access to Non Ethanol fuel and only run octane Non Eth. fuel, so really no need for the Sea Foam, sorry I can't edit out the thumbs down dude, not supposed to be there, suppose to be Ninety Three Octane but for some reason when I type in the numeric ninety three the thumbs down dude comes up instead Cheers! Thanks. yeah I do not want to run 70+mph wide open more than just enough to get out of trouble if needed. 55-60 mph max at my age is good enough. These open back roads in S.C. can be tricky fun lol. Just wanted to check on rear tire size and best gear ratio to have the engine run low rpm doing 55-60 mph. Heedehcheenuh Chuck D Ride on..... p.s. Keep Mr Petty straight over there j/k.

Ok team I just ordered the Tao Tao Powermax 150 and ready for the ride.
Disabled old vet (USAF 1984-1987) who had to retire from R.A. (Rheumatoid Arthritis stage 3-4). I have been looking to get into scooters for some time now and finally made my purchase from TXpowersports (Positive feed back from here helped my choice). I got the Blue / Silver model (USAF Blue!) and have been researching all the maintenance and new parts to get ready to make it solid. As an old Air Force mechanic I can handle this if the R.A. does not get in the way. I will place feed back and info as far as gear changes to weight variator changes etc. my plan is to have it top out (GPS) at 70-75 mph so the motor will not stress doing 55-60 mph. LED conversions exhaust (Chinese exhaust seem to burn out to fast or rust out). Not interested in the scooter getting to 40 mph fast but more interested in the ride.
I had the chance to get the Honda PCX 150 but why pay for a bike for 5 years when I can save and pay for it in 1 and upgrade with less money. So any info on tire ratios to plug to oil etc will be a help. Has anyone ever used Lucas oil treatment (less than an ounce) mixed in the oil and gear oil to help extend the life of the motor. Also who has used Seafoam (Cap full every other tank) to help keep the carb tank and lines cleaned?
Chime in and lets roll with it team...
Time to get ready to go fishing...

If you're going to be running at faster speeds I recommend The IRC SS-530 rear 130/70-13 This rear tire cost twice as much but will last ×4 And Shinko SR567F front - 110/ -13/Blackwall Together they will drop your RPM about 500 and get the Chinese speedometer closer to honesty Thanks for the info. I will look into it. My SSDI does not start until July and being we have all this nice weather here in S.C. I am wanting to ride so bad. Not looking for wide open throttle or jack rabbit runs...just the ride with out killing the poor motor with my old butt lol. I am taking notes from all the sites and info as well as videos about BBK gears and tire ratios to make something work reliably. Heck I have even looked into the complete LED conversion front and rear to save on the wattage so I can add a few things for safety. This will be fun. I have built many a hot rod from the '70s-'90s then had to retire from R.A. (Rheumatoid Arthritis). Those days in the USAF have caught up with my old butt. lol Heedehcheenuh Chuck D Ride on..... I prefer to not strain the motor and lower the rpm to rum at speed.(Better for longevity) Always puzzling why NOT initially selecting a scooter with sufficient engine cc's to CRUISE at desired speed preference appears to be a "denial issue"? The 50cc 4-stroke crowd seems to expect their 35mph scoots should go 50mph . . and 150cc 55mph scoots should go 70mph! The point is some can not afford the Suzuki Burgman 200 or the Honda Forza (Both above the 70+mph max speed) Yet a 150cc can probably achieve 70+mph with the proper gearing clutch set up. I worked for 30+ years and now I am disabled so my funding is real short. I want to get into scooters and got cleared for the Honda PCX 150 but even it has a top speed under 70mph. Here in S.C. we have open country roads and I would like that little umph to get out of being a rolling road block. Now I do understand Chinese scoots speedometers read way off the mark yet the motor has enough power to stroll up to 70mph given the power to weight ratio. As an old hot rod builder I know how to get the power to weight ratio just right. Right now I am looking at hot rod building scooters as a hobby and have one fast enough to stay out of trouble here lol. I figure the 18/36 ratio would give the top speed if needed and not kill the motor running 55-60mph. Then later go with a big bore 180-200cc kit if needed. it is all good and will be fun as the cost for Chinese scooters and parts are cheap enough. When I get started I will have videos( if the camera works right) of GPS speeds with the gear changes.
Thanks...

My question is ...can they make a larger diameter clutch for top end instead of a fast launch? Almost like changing the rear gear with out having to do so gear wise but clutch size. Even if it is just 10mm-15mm may give you a taller run out and increase top speed while staying stock on the motor. Most scooters are fast out of the hole and seem to only gain a few seconds of launch time for the price. I prefer to not strain the motor and lower the rpm to rum at speed.(Better for longevity)

sillylittleboy Thank you for posting this. I have been looking into scooters for some time now and can not judge whom to get one from. This may be the company I go with. I am an old disabled vet and have been looking into getting a scooter for some time now and got cleared for a Honda PCX 150 but money may be an issue for me. So Tao Tao may get my change then get the Honda PCX 150 later. I will contact them as soon as I can and see about these scooters they list. Heedehcheenuh Chuck D Ride on.....
