Speaking of missing the point why in heavens name would the scooter cannon ball ralley dismiss motorcycles?,,, because they are superior in every way that's why,,,my standard dr dualsport would kick a scooters so hard it would wear it like a hat (which has never been challenged by the way) $10,000 bux cash challenge,,, LA to San Fran and back 5 laps of a motocross track ride up to San Fran,,, 5 laps of another motocross track there,,, service ride,,,5 laps again on the return lap ride back to LA and 5 laps of another motocross track ,,, guess who wins,,, think about it,,, I got less than $2 large in my dr,,,, hands down no takers,,,, scooters are fun and all gang but they ain't up to the task

We (most Americans) have never really embraced small displacement cycles,,,just lately I've been seeing 300cc bikes blasting around town,,,mostly younger riders but they are fast enough now to keep interest,,this is one of the big reasons smaller bikes and scooters never really make it here ,,they're just not quick or fast enough ,,,plus we in the US have the luxury of cheap fuels,,,it's a combination of factors,,,plus on top of it all the larger displacement scooters are just as much if not more price wise than a entry level full sized motorcycle,,,if you look at ktm's 390 duke,,,honda and kawasaki's 300 bikes and more the price is hovering around $4k,,,so for me at least it's a no brainer ,,,and on top of it parts and service,,,Kat is lucky,,,she has a reputable honest shop close,,,most people don't ,,,

I've gotten several "leftover" new model bikes for a little better than half price,,,my 2013 one year left over Genuine Stella for $2300 out the door,,msrp was way north of that,,,got a Kawasaki zxr1200 2 year left over for $5000 flat out the door,,again a little more than half price,,,and both were tax tags everything out the door,,,got a Yamaha sx650 demo bike with 300 miles on it tagged out the door $900,,,,and another one just popped in my mind a Suzuki tl1000s leftover for just a tick over half price,,,so the deals are out there,,,it's a matter of right time right place for me anyways,,,I generally by used ,,I have a serious allergy to msrp ,,,

Could be a bad coil,,,or a bad plug,,, just check all connectors to all components,,make sure they're tight ,,,that's a start

75% or more braking is provided by the front brake /tire on road surfaces,,,,if you're a fan of abs that's your call,,,when I ordered my last new bmw r1150r it was without abs ,,,even tho they had the color I wanted on the floor with it,,,I look at it this way,,,racers don't use it,,,airbags either, I've hit my brakes hard in my cars/trucks and have had the abs kick in,,,did little to help but scare the bejesus out of me thinking there was something wrong with the braking system,,,,I'm sure the newer systems are much more sofisticated than the antique ones I run ,,,I generally go by the off-road adage " if it ain't there it ain't fu(kin up",,,I don't even look at my tachs when my bikes have them ,,,I use them to set idle then forget they are even there,,,simplicity is the name of the game for me,,,all the nanny switches and geegaws are stripped off first thing,(nothing like jumping a dualsport and have the kickstand switch shut the engine off when you land,,,that's exciting). I'm sure abs gives people a measure of peace of mind and studies and tests show that it does shorten braking distances in adverse conditions,,,but I can do without
