Huge debate on that,,,with both sides of the issue represented ,,,personally I'd run it open,,,others will scream apocalypse,,,lots of miles been run with open covers and with heat being the biggest enemy I'd run open

Either the clutch pads or the bell is glazed or both,,,also the springs in the clutch may be too strong and are holding the arms off the bell,,,try slightly weaker clutch springs,,, that would help
