Thank you for replying, and the new cdi looks exactly as the old one. Same size, same color and everything. the 2 wire connector does actually have 2 wires. any ideas?

Hi everyone I am a recent scooter fanatic and have recently acquired a couple scooter and have been working on them. One of the scooters I have is a 50cc and have been trying to figure out what is wrong and what needs to be fixed. I have learned that it isn't getting spark. the first thing I did to try and find the problem is I replaced the CDI. With the new CDI when I try and start it, it blows a fuse. not with the old cdi, but with new cdi. I have tried other CDIs and any new one blows the fuse. when the old cdi is on it will attempt to turn over but not blow a fuse... Any ideas on what the issue might be?
