Hi everyone! Sorry it took me so long to respond. Finals are killing me. I finally had a chance to check everything yesterday and in the carburetor the pin holding the float tank thing was ever so slightly bent out of place and there was a piece of something blocking the tube going from the petcock to the carburetor! It seems to be running well so far but there is a bit of a knocking sound which I assume means I probably need to adjust the valves a bit more. Thank you all so so much for all of your suggestions! I'm so glad to know that if anything goes wrong with it I can find help here!!!

Hi Lain! I can absolutely do that! I'm waiting on my roommate to get back from work so she can help me hold the camera. Meanwhile I'll check the diaphragm and all. I've been thinking about getting a new carb for it anyway because the one it came with is one of those that I had to bore through the screws to get into to clean it. I really hate anything that is tamper-proof!

Hi everyone! I have searched everywhere and done everything I could find and I can't seem to get my scooter going! Can someone please, please, please suggest something!!!! I want to make sure I cover absolutely everything I've done to it so you have an accurate idea of everything that I've done so this might be a little long.
At the end of July I purchased a 2014 TaoTao ATM50-A scooter with roughly 800 miles on it. The guy I bought it from was an electrical engineer for the military and replaced the hoses with military grade ones that would degrade as quickly. He also replaced the battery and the CDI. (I still have the old CDI as it still works, he was apparently just putting a better one in.) He let me know that sometimes the electric starter wouldn't work and that it was either the solenoid relay, which he already had an extra of that he gave me, or the voltage regulator. The starter was acting up so I ultimately ended up replacing both the relay and the regulator. For about two weeks it was working beautifully.
Then school started back mid-August and we had to transport it in the back of a truck to get it here. That's when the real troubles started. It hasn't worked right since. Looking up all the issues online here's what all I've done: replaced the spark plug, replaced the fuel filter, removed the carb and opened it up and cleaned it, changed the oil, drained all the fuel and replaced it.
So here's where we are now: it will start and idle just fine but as soon as I turn the throttle to about half open or so it dies unless I release the throttle. I knew it had been sitting a while even though I had been working on it so I let it idle for a good 15 to 20 minutes before I even attempted the throttle. I read that the valves might need to be adjusted so I got a feeler gauge. I read several different measurements so I have tried both the intake and exhaust at 0.003 and then at 0.004, then I tried the intake at 0.003 and exhaust at 0.004 then the opposite, then intake at 0.004 and exhaust at 0.005 and then the opposite. And of course I've adjusted the air/fuel mixture by turning it 1/4 and letting it set for 10 seconds until the RPMS go down then turning it back 1/8. I've also adjusted the idle.
I'm still having the same problem with the throttle. I have no idea where to go from here. I bought it to get around campus since I often only have 10 minutes between class to get from one end to the other. But so far it has done nothing all semester except earn me the nickname "Scooter-girl". Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do next? I have a feeling it's going to be something simple but I just don't know what it could be! Thank you!!!!!
