Hey guys, I'm very new to the board and scooters in general, hoping to get some advice on my recent pick up. I got a beat up Lance GTR50 off craigslist for basically free, I knew it would never run like new but I thought I could do my best with my limited knowledge of mechanics. First off, it starts and runs fine, usually. No electric start but kick start usually works on the first few goes. Battery is fine as far as I can tell (all lights turn on, horn works). My first issue with the scooter is it takes a long time to warm up. I've got a couple of buddies with similar chinese scooters and theirs are just start it and it's ready to roll. When I start mine the back wheel immediately begins turning without any throttle, kind of like a car when it gets shifted to drive. The previous owner said to wait 5-10 minutes until the spinning stops and then its ready to go which I've found to be true. If I try to open the throttle while it's doing its warm up spinning then the engine usually dies. So I'd like to know how I can speed up this "warming up" process so that I can just start it and go. Also today I went to store it for the winter before our first snow. While I expected the scooter to have trouble starting because of the cold (about 40 degrees), I managed to get the engine starting but the back wheel did not turn this time. Even after waiting a long time, I couldn't put any throttle on it or the engine would die. Some advice on this issue would be much appreciated. Like I said, I have a very novice understanding of scooter mechanics so most of the "have you checked" questions are probably gonna be a no.
