I only replaced the cylinder. I have it set at 0.005, but I think I might double check that later today and maybe reset it to 0.003. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll just replace the head as well.

Little update here,
I went ahead and replaced the top end and carb. It isn't smoking anymore, but it is still doing the same thing as before; it accelerates then slows down. The vacuum line seems like it is fine. You were right when you said not to connect the racing CDI to it. The bike won't start at all with it on there, but starts with the stock box. Also, it took quite a while to start it up today. I don't know if this is fuel, electrical, or compression related. Any further advise will be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Also, when taking it apart I cleaned carbon build-up on the head and when pouring xylene onto the valves, there as a slight leak on the exhaust valve. After cleaning it well the leak was gone.

I was afraid of that. I'm pretty sure the leak is coming from the top of the engine. So, get a gasket set and replace all of them from the top I assume? I just watched a few videos on youtube and it doesn't seem very difficult. Any suggestions towards where to purchase the correct set for my scooter? I looked on amazon and it seems like most of the sets on there are generic and will fit most 50cc engines.
Thanks again

Thanks for the replies folks.
The smoke is coming out of the exhaust and the CDI is of the racing nature.
The scooter leaks a little bit of oil and there is oil located underneath on the bike stand.
I'll upload some pictures shortly.

Hello, first post here. I have a 2012 Peace 50cc scooter with 1700 miles on it. The top speed of it was usually 30 mph on flat ground and accelerated fine. Over the past few weeks its performance has diminished greatly. It won't hold an idle when first started, but once I get it idling and allow it to warm up, it does not run properly. I will take it out on the road it will get up to about 26 mph and then slowly die down to 10-15 mph. It also smokes pretty badly. It runs fine if I don't give it more throttle than needed to hit, and maintain, 20 mph. I have adjusted the idle screw, cleaned the carb and air filter, clean the fuel line/filter and vacuum fuel valve, changed the spark plug and nothing has changed.
I did, however, fill it up with too much oil a little over a month ago and rode it (very sluggishly) for about 5-7 miles before I was able to drain it and fill it to the proper level.
I ordered and carb and cdi for it, but was wondering if any of you guys/gals had any input as to what my problem might be.
Thanks in advance
