So I've replaced the clutch and added a performance CDI. It drives like a brand new scooter plus some power due to the CDI upgrade. I am going to take the old clutch apart to see if there is any belt debris from the last belt break.
I've also bought a spare belt and a variator locking tool incase I break down again. Thanks for you guys' help!

what size wheels, two stroke or 4? If the clutches are overhauled before use they tend to last a very long time. John 12" wheels, 4 stroke

I believe the shop said it was the crank shaft that was bent.
They did a full repair on it and the scoot drove perfect for about 3 weeks afterward. Then it started eating belts.
I've removed the variator and clutch. I've checked the variator and it is in good working order.
The clutch has a slight warp in the sheave. I do not know how much is too much. I haven't taken it apart, but I have squeezed and released the sheave to test the tension on the contra spring.
As I mentioned before, it seemed like the belt wasn't riding all the way up on the clutch. Yesterday I removed the variator releasing tension on the belt. The clutch then closed all of the way. Common sense tells me that either the belt is too short, or the clutch is wearing out.

Well, I've ordered a clutch and a gates belt. I'll report back once I've swapped those out and driven it around a bit.
Anyone know how long clutches typically last?

The one I removed put on by the shop was the same size. Also, scrappy dog website says that's the right size for long case scoots.

Removing the variator, compressing the clutch with my hands and sliding the belt into the clutch. Then putting the variator back on. The belt is too short to change without removing the variator.

I bought one from the local scooter shop. Not sure of the brand. It's a 729 17.7 30.
I do wonder if it's too small.

Hey guys, this is my first post here but I've been following the forum for a good while.
Firstly, I have a Puma Speedo 50cc Chinese made scooter. It runs the standard GY6 139QMB. It has a long case. It's got about 8000 miles on it and I've had a 80cc BBQ installed and had the engine rebuilt as it died earlier this year. They said the crank shafts was bent or something.
Most recently I've begin shredding belts. I first noticed an issue when it felt like the clutch would completely disengage while I let off the throttle.
About a week later, stranded with a shredded belt.
I replaced the belt and it shredded again in a little less than a week. It felt like the scooter was revving high as if the belt was slipping. It wasn't getting up to speed as fast.
Put this third belt on and same feeling. Scooter doesn't get up to speed and it just feels like the belt is slipping.
It looks like the belt isn't ridding all the way up on the clutch.
Today I got it back together and it won't crank. It's as if the belt is binding. I squeezed the clutch to relieve tension and the motor turns fine.
I tried posting a picture but am unable to.
Any ideas?
