Ok folks i did not try anything after yesterday afternoon, i got tied up with other things.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the scoot has a hard time starting? I adjusted the idle screw because the idle rpm was at about 2000rpm. I did it after running the bike for approx 3mins. It only starts if i give it throttle. Once its running it has a somewhat steady idle.
Im going to readjust the valves one more time and set the exhaust to 004

Got the ignition and got her started. The engine sounds alot healthier now. I adjusted the idle screw to bring the rpms down to 1700. I tried restarting ten minutes later but it wouldnt start. Gave it a little throttle and started again. Maybe the engine isnt hot enough. Ill have to readjust the idle and carb screws

geh3333 Well i went to two stores looking for that super clean degreaser. I didnt find any. So i looked up the base ingredient and it was sodium hydroxide. That is the main ingredient in oven degreasers too so i bought that instead. I tried using it on the lense but it had no effect. I did see the foam yellowing up but i think these lenses have been in the sun wayyyy too long. The degreaser seems to have fogged part of the lense now, hopefully i can remove it, if not, its not a big deal. Replaced the gear oil today and assembled some of the trim. Reattached the valve cover. My lock shipment arrived today in my state. Hopefully its sent out for delivery this morning and will delivered a day earlier than expected. Cant wait I think im going to go ahead and respray the plastic fairings. Anyone have any ideas for colors? I was thinking a dark grey top with the silver bottom. Hopefully i can match the silver paint on the bottom enough to keep the Roketa logo. As for the top, i want to completely get rid of the hydraulic suspension and Z - BIKE decals. These are all the parts along with the associated costs that have come along so far. New igntion Lockset 15.99 2x Black Trim Paint 15.98 Hi Temp RTV 7.49
80w90 Gear Oil 4.19 Feeler Gagues 3.99 Fuses 3.49
Zip Ties 2.99 1 gal of octane gas 2.80 10w40 4t Engine Oil Free (stored) Dot 3 Brake Fluid Free (stored) 2 part Epoxy Free (stored) Brake Cleaner Free (stored) If i want to repaint the fairings im going to have to use minimum 4-6 cans of paint @ Subtotal: $56.92 +Tax around 4.50 each Adding another $27.00

Alright then so 0.004 top and 0.005 bottom sounds good?
I have no idea what the is wrong with the center stand. The bolt thats welded is also stripped. I just purchased to m10 bolts to replace the kickstand ones with blue loctite. I cant possibly think of any way that the center stand will stay put vertically. It still leans forward like in the pictures. Maybe the part that butts up against the frame is too worn or maybe it didnt lift the rear tire to begin with.

I left the intake valve (top) at 0.004 alone and adjusted the exhaust valve(bottom) from .001 to 0.005. Hopefully those are good specs. I havent reattached the valve cover but im going to call it a night. If you guys think i should run different specs i can readjust it tomorrow. Once i get the ignition ill (hopefully) start her up and ill see if i notice any loud ticking. The center stand appears to lock and work properly but it doesnt lift the rear tire unless i balance it with the stand standing perfectly vertical. It doesnt appear bent but it looks a little worn where it rubs/locks into place. Do you guys see anything wrong with it? Is it supposed to lift the rear tire? EDIT: The bolt in the 3rd pic is completely stripped out therefore causing the portion thats supposed to lock against the frame to slip by instead of lock into place. Hopefully its just the bolt thats stripped as the nut is welded to the frame. I have no taps so if a new bolt doesnt work im going to have to slip a bolt and nut through the old nut hole and tighten it up on the other side.

lain I got the manual off the roketa website via the owners manual link www.roketa.com/product/36066/0/2620.shtmlIt doesnt state wether the gap is inch or metric on the manual. Im assuming its a metric gap which would make it the rough equivalent of 0.005 in imperial measurement(US) 0.005 in = 0.127 mm Hopefully im doing thing right, I removed the valve cover and didnt notice much RTV squeezed over the edge. It was on there pretty tight even after removing the valve cover bolts. I had to use a screwdriver handle and bang it to release the bond of the RTV valve cover gasket. I aligned the fan on the T mark. I checked the cam gear and the big circle is centered in the middle with the two smaller circles being level with the valve case. I took initial readings and the top valve is at 0.004, however the bottom valve is wayy too tight. Its sitting below 0.0016. I live in arizona, (hot weather), running 10w40 oil, what do you recommend i run? Is the bottom valve the intake or exhaust? Dont the valves generally loosen up with use, maybe it came too tight from the factory and it was never adjusted or it was adjusted improperly..Also it looks like my cluster is in KM, so i have roughly 3700mi on the scoot. geh3333 I dont think that cleaner is going too do much now. All the clear lenses have heavy UV damage. The only way i see it clearing up is if theres a chemical reaction that will make the plastic clear. I sanded most of the yellow/fog up and polished the lenses by hand. They really need to be replaced but its not worth the investment at the moment. I might buy some clear colored spray paint to cover the yellow.

Ok I found the reccommended maintenance schedule. It says to check valve clearance every 4000km. It only says 0.12 so im assuming thats in MM and not IN. What clearance do you guys recommend i run? The generic manual says 0.05in I saw a post that said 0.04 for both, and another that said 0.04 on intake 0.05 on exhaust. What do you guys think? It is a 2005 roketa 150cc scoot, with 6k on the odometer(unsure if its KMs or Miles) baseed of gy6 I also have a problem with the center kickstand. It doesnt lock into place. when i rock it back the kickstand just slides forward. It never locks into place with the rear wheel lifted.

Yep it says its 3 times more oil resistant than the regular stuff. These are all the suggested applications per the manufacturer, exhaust manifolds/headers, valve covers, oil pans, timing covers, water pumps, thermostat housings

Thats one thing i missed, how often are the valve clearances supposed to be checked?
I just did an oil change this morning. I tried bleeding the front brakes but the MC has a cracked eyesight. Upon refilling it started leaking. I epoxy'd the eyesight shut and im going to recommend he just replace it when i hand it to him. Im going to let it cure a couple days before adding any brake fluid. Hopefully it will hold as brake fluid eats alot of things. Ill just wait til i get the lockset and do it then. I know its not the best thing in the world to do a repair on the MC, but when i removed the cap the fluid was already sitting pretty low.
I also took apart the carb and it wasnt gummed up or anything. Just cleaned it up and reinstalled it.
Im pretty confident the bike will start up after going through everything. Might need a little tinkering with the carb. Just waiting on that damn lock set, should be here on before the 20th. I ordered it online. The scooter stores around town want like twice the price of all these chinese scooter parts available online...

lain I put about a 2mm bead on it..It didnt really ooze out anywhere. I followed the manufacturers directions and let it sit about an hour before torquing down the bolts. I didnt want to pull out the original gasket because it looked so brittle that it wouldve problably split somewhere upon removal. The rtv is rated for up to 750F. The scooter is my brothers im sure he wont mind me fixing it up. I believe he saved it from the apartment in hopes of making a few dollars parting it out. Hes using public transportation at the moment Im just unsure about the repaint. I wanted to get rid of the red and yellow decals and do the top half a gunmetal grey. Im not very confident in the outcome with spray paint though. Maybe once i surprise him ill ask about repainting it.

So i recently came into the posession of a 2005 Roketa z-bike scooter. The bike looks like complete crap. All the plastics are yellowed and fogged. All the fairings are in poor scratched and scuffed condition. Its a chinese scoot and after doing some digging around the interwebs i believe this is the model # www.roketa.com/product/36066/0/2620.shtmlLong story short the bike has had a rough life. Its only in my possession because my brother wanted to temporarily store it at my place because hes moving places. It problably hasnt had any maintenance whatsoever on it. I got it to turn on like 2 years ago while fiddling with it. It didnt sound super peppy but it stayed on and ran with minor idling issues. After that, last i knew he told me it wasnt turning on. Then it sat for a good while. Then they lost the keys. Then they tore out the ignition switch. And now its in my hands. Right now he doesnt have a vehicle and its the middle of summer so i thought id surprise him and hopefully get him some wheels. Im very mechanically inclined so this is all simple to me. I already tore ALL of the plastic from the bike down completely to the frame. I removed all the lenses and wetsanded them the best i could followed with a plastic polish buff. Theyre still horribly yellow but atleast you can see through them now. I can now tell the bike has 6000 miles. I also repainted all of the sunfaded black panels with trim paint. They look ALOT better. Its missing the two front mirrors but thats not a big deal right now. It really sucks that they clear coated the fairings AFTER applying these hideous Jamaican font Z BIKE decals. Upon mechanical inspection i noticed the battery is still holding voltage which is good. The ignition has been torn out. I already ordered a full lock set and am waiting on it to arrive. I found the main fuse blown and have replaced it. Im assuming he cut out the ignition with the battery still attached hence the blown fuse. I also found a plastic bag sucked into what appears like an intake of some sort on the passenger side. The vacuum hoses are in poor condition, all the rubber is hardened. I only found two lines to be cracked. The PCV hose that goes into the intake was shot and there was oil/dust grime on top of the engine case. And another small vacuum line near the rear driver shock. Ive taped up the hoses as best i can to avoid vacuum leaks. The fuel filter appears old but the screen is clear and free of debris. I found oil stains on the valve cover so i removed it, the oring is flat and hard so i made my own gasket with RTV. Checked spark plug, looked pretty clean, rechecked gap and reinstalled. Checked air filter, looked clean, blew off and reinstalled. I have leftover 10-40 4stroke from my moto days so ill give it an oil change tomorrow. The tires appear in good shape and hold air. Ive adjusted the rear drum since it wasnt really grabbing for anything. Now it has a firm grip. The front MC eyeglass is broken and appears to have been epoxied/glued shut. Its not leaking but the front brakes are squishy. Ill try bleeding them tomorrow. I really cant do much until the Ignition switch comes in. Im considering repainting the fairings but i dont know how good a rattle job will turn out. In my experience ive never had anything turn out good if its anything but flat/satin paint. Glosses all seem to never harden completely. Another thing is idk if repainting it is going overboard on the whole "only possessing it for storage" deal. Do you guys think i have permission or not? I think theyve pretty much considered it as a loss. Does anyone have any other maintenance suggestions or any ideas on how to spruce up the bike and not make it look like a huge rolling turd? So far im $40 in this ghetto project with the ignition set, 2 cans of paint and the RTV sealer. Its not logical to spend any money in replacement parts that arent completely broken. For what its worth ill post pics in a bit ..even though everything is piled in pieces at the moment.
