hey thanks guys, looks like the regulator was the issue after all. after some scootdawg and google searching I found the most common issue was after the scooter had been run without a battery present, which I did not too long ago (DOH!). needless to say I found one place that was about to close and I was able to buy a new regulator. put the new regulator in, cleaned up all the grounds, wired on a better fuse holder and put a new headlamp in. Good news is that I just made a trip about a mile and a half down the road and battery is charging, lights work without blowing and everything seems to be working as it should. if there is not a memo about this issue, there should be. DON'T RIDE YOUR SCOOTER WITHOUT A BATTERY! don't be a dunski like me! hahaha thanks again!

Hey there everyone! Previous dawg here with a bit of a scooter issue that I need some direction with. I have a 2010 peace sports renegade 50cc. My issue is my headlights and charging system. I keep blowing headlights like crazy, literally between yesterday and today I have blown 3 brand new headlamp bulbs. the other issue is that my charging system is not charging my brand new battery (new like not even 12 hours old). basically what is happening is I replaced the old crap china battery with a fresh brand new unit. I filled the battery, let it sit for a while, capped it off and then trickle charged it as per instructions. put it in scoot and fired right off with the starter button, something I haven't been able to do in a while. so after maybe 10 minutes of running, shut the scoot down and battery no longer has a charge. when running all things that would normally work off battery are working. Brake/tail lamps, horn, turn signals. The only goofy thing I have noticed is that the turn signals speed up when applying throttle (I replaced the china flasher with a newer automotive unit). And the headlights..... I put in a brand new bulb and fired the scoot up to make sure it was working properly, no issues. high and low beams worked great and bright. However, from my back yard to my driveway (maybe 60 feet) the low beam blew. so I switched to high beam. From edge of driveway to mailbox (maybe 30 feet at best) high beam blew as well. My thoughts are that the voltage regulator might be on the fritz but a: all the reputable scooter parts stores are closed today and b: I would like to get a good answer before I start the whole throwing parts at it commotion. I do have a multimeter but I don't know what voltages to look for or where to look for them. Anyone with info or help will be greatly appreciated!
