The plug has a nice whiteish,peanut color on the ceramic. I'll check for air leaks, ie. remove, check and retorque the intake manifold, and the airbox and connection to the carb. Should I mess with the needle in the carb? It's on the center indent out of the 5 of them. Thank you so much for the advice, I really do appreciate the help. Be back soon

OK, I've got the scooter to idle finally, and sounds great, but if I give it gas it bogs down and makes a skipping noise along with some odd clunking sounds. I checked the variator weights, thinking that when it got some higher rpms, the weights were stuck or something, but they're not. Checked the clutch, that appears to be fine. Valve springs? I don't think they should be bad already (1200 mi). Valves clearances are set to .002 intake, and .0025 exhaust.

I took the carb loose and it's full of gas... the carb is about a month old and I use that blue enzyme gas treatment and the "good" gas, octane... 31 for the pilot jet and an 81 main jet. When I took it apart earlier today,I cleaned it all just to make sure, and no residue on anything, it felt like it wasn't getting fuel when it was chugging along on Monday,but it's getting fuel...

alleyoop , I definitely could not hold the compression with my thumb covering the spark plug hole. I rechecked for spark against a good known ground, and there was spark. When I reinstalled the plug and tried it again and pulled the plug it had a coating of soot on it, but it was not wet. Also, the smell from the exhaust smelled like unburned gas... not raw gas, but a mix of gas and a bad carbony type smell.

katastroff I need to see what I'm getting compression wise... someone at school said something similar. alleyoop ,it turns over and wants to start (from the sounds of it) but it still won't run for more than a second or two... bad rings already? or a cracked piston? When I pulled the plug everything kinda flaked off of it leaving it stark white... if that helps....

Hello there all, I've got a stumper... I've had this atm1 50cc for about a year, and for the most part it's been almost reliable, (apart from replacing the carb... couldn't clean it...). I was riding the other day when I started to lose power and it started making a chattering like when a 4 cyl engine loses a cylinder, so I stopped and it idled fine. When I went to take off again, the chatter was gone but I could walk faster, then it quit. Got it home,checked my valve lashings, cleaned the jets, checked for spark, fuel is getting to the carb... what could I be missing? Any and all help or advice is greatly appreciated. Btw, my first scoot ever. Noob!
