Hi everyone - I am new to this board. I ride a 49cc scooter and am trying to find other people in my area to form a group and ride with.

Hi, my name is James,
and I live north of Atlanta in Marietta, GA. This is my scooter:
It is a 2012 Lotus 50. I bought it used from a friends motorcycle shop. Here is what has been done to it before I bought the scooter:
- New Rear Tire
- Front and Rear Tire Stem Valves replaced with the metal ones
- Electric Choke Valve
- Performance CDI and Coil
- New Speedo, New Speedo cable, Throttle cable, sleeve and perch
- New grips
- Tygon Fuel line
- New Fuel Filter
- New Phillips Headlight bulb (hi/low)
- New floor matt, tail light, paint, and transmission cover.
- Oil freshly changed
- Carb Serviced (has the kind you can open to clean/rebuild)
- Valve adjustment
- Rear Brake Adjustment
- Front break caliper rebuilt
- new battery.
I get 43mph on a flat road with my 218lb butt hanging on to this little scooter. I am planning to replace the clutch and springs with a performance version, and a new stronger better belt. Then, Jets for carburetor, performance fuel filter, and exhaust. Will see what happens from there.
Any advice or past experience you would like to share please feel free - I am "all ears". I had a peace sports 50 last year that I put 5000K on. It was a good little scooter until I got T-boned by a lady going through a stop sign and it blew into 100 pieces. I broke my left arm in 3 places, my left leg broke badly from knee to ankle, concussion (helmet split from impact) and a fracture in my back. Be careful out there - these fools will kill you. I advise everyone to find an insurance plan that will cover your costs if you are injured by someone with no insurance or too little coverage.
If you live in the Atlanta area and want to get together for a ride let me know. I have a small group of 49cc riders that I am connected with on facebook if you are interested. I am glad to have found this forum again. The Scootdawg forums were great.
