Doe anyone have any suggestions about lowering the idle on this beast? She wants to go... I turned the idle screw out all the way and it's still too high. I'm no expert, but the throttle cable seems off a bit. I don't know why, I can't explain it. Other than the screwy connectors on the cable were loose, and I tightened them up. Is there a way to adjust it? Is it possible that the cable is too tight and it's giving itself gas even when I don't twist the throttle?

Finally got it running! After I put the carb back on, I couldn't get it to turn over. It would crank, but that was it. I had family in town so I didn't have time to work on it. Plus, I probably needed a break from this thing. I tested the fuel again and got nothing at all, so I figured I put something together wrong. The throttle assembly on top of the ccarb wasn't on all the way. I reattached it and bang! It startedrright up. Thank you so much for walking me through it. Now, it's time to Tuneit and get it running right. I noticed quite a bit of white smoke behind me as I was scooting around. Will the airflow screw adjust that? It also idles really high, like 3K rpms. I turned the idle screw all the way out and that was as low as it goes on the center stand. When I am on the scooter, it seems to drop idle to between 1800 and 2100. I even had to give it a little throttle at a stop sign cause it sounded like it wasggoing to die. I'mggoing to go get a new plug right now.

Yes, I sprayed carb cleaner through the jets and saw it come through. Although, not much with the smaller one.

I have it all apart. The Jets seem fine. Look brand new. I can see and blow through them. I'm surprised at how small the opening is in the main jet! It has a number on it, either 68 or 89 depending on which way is up... The float looks good. My inexact tape measure method was 17 or 18 mm. I saw a video last week about carb tuning, and it talked about the pin in the throttle spring area. Would it help me to adjust that since I already have it apart? Anything else I can look for in the carb before I put it back together?

I was afraid of that, but I'm prepared. I bought a can of carb cleaner yesterday. Figured I'd use it sometime. The biggest thing I'm worried about is getting all the hoses hooked back up in the proper spots after I'm done. I'll have to label them somehow! I'll update you later. Thanks for the diagram also!

Yes, I tested the fuel flow. Just as you described actually. I expected fuel to run all over the place, so I made more preparations than necessary. LOL. Fuel shot out when I cranked the ignition. I also tested the spark by pulling the plug, reconnecting the wire, and touching it to the frame. I got nice blue spark.
I have not touched the carb one bit except for the 2 adjustable screws. So far the longest it's run has been about 6 seconds this afternoon after the air flow adjustment. It's gotta be fuel delivery right? Is it possible the carb is gummed up even though it's only got 1 mile on it? It's obviously been sitting in someone's warehouse for 3 years since the plate stamp says it was built in May 2011!
I figured I would get it running and see how fast I can get it going before I modify or replace anything. Might have to re-think that...

I got the plug out a lot easier than expected. Just used a small drill bit, and when I pulled it away the plug came with it! Now the bad part. Adjusting the air flow didn't help me at all. I even took the air filter and cover completely off. It would not start at all. I put them back on and adjusted the screw, but I'm back to where I was. It fires up, revs up, and dies after 2 or 3 seconds. This thing is testing my patience... Any other ideas?

Thanks alleyoop. I'll give it a go this afternoon. I hope I don't have to "notch" it, because I don't have a rotary tool and hate having to buy stuff I won't use much. Here's a pic if it helps anyone...

Alleyoop... As usual you were right on the money. When I took off the carb again to double check everything I went to work on that brass piece covering where the A/F mix screw is. I finally got it OFF the carb and sure enough there is a A/F screw there. I drained the entire tank of gas just in case I had water in the gas. Just to be sure it was not the issue. So I have a empty carb and gas tank I turned the carb A/F in until snug. Then I backed it out 1 and 1/2 turns. Put in a bit of gas and it fired right up and idled. It did not die until it ran out of what bit of gas I put in it. I am out of gas so I cannot fill it up with anymore but I think the issue is solved now. I will let you guys know sometime after I get some fresh gas back into the tank and get working on it again. Thanks Alleyoop for getting me to check for that A/F screw again. I was told by another person that its possible some 2T carbs would not have an a/f screw so I was sure mine did not. I was wrong. So... How did you get the cap off of the a/f screw? I'm having the same issue. I've had it for 4 days and it hasn't run for more than 5 seconds at a time! It's a "brand new" 2011 2-stroke. I was seriously going to order an adjustable carb, but if I can save $50 and a week of waiting, I might be able to ride this beast before the snow flies here in WI.
