Tail lights

Being newly back into two wheel travel, I've reached the conclusion that the biggest safety issue is not being seen. Even during the day.
So, being an engineering type and overthinking the problem, I've now got a bright green/yellow helmet, ride with a dayglo vest on, and am considering an elevated flag of some sort.
I also want a brake light that is so bright it's impossible to miss in the daytime. They now have these 10 watt LEDs for just a few dollars on ebay. Not "equivalent" to 10 watt incandescent bulbs, but consuming a real honest 10 watts - about 700 milliamps at 12 volts. This is roughly equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent - close to the headlight brightness ..
Do an ebay search for Item Number 141069518827 to see what I'm talking about.
And these are really bright. Just have to add a small heat sink and a dropping resistor... because the duty cycle would be low, the scoot should have no problem supplying the energy.
At night they should look really bright.
Be nice to buy something off the shelf, but everything that approaches this seems to be $180+
This idea may exceed DOT brightness specs, but I doubt anyone would give me any trouble about that - in the interest of improving safety.

Oh, yeah,
One item I forgot to mention, which might be the most serious issue during the PDI, was the valv clearance - the intake was right on .004" but the exhaust had no clearance at all - could not get a .001" feeler in there. With temperature expansion, it won't completely seat.
If I had not corrected this, over time I would probably have a burned valve.

howdy and i'm disgusted you have to do that before being able to use a "new" scooter lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken I kind of expected it, having read up on PDI and such. It seems weird that Chinese would get % of it right, but no quality control. From what I've read, most issues relate to peripheral parts - the engine is typically good. Seems like they would do the little bit of QC, and get 10% more money, and develop a good reputation... so dealers would embrace them. As it is, most dealers are rightfully afraid of them because of the labor required to get customer satisfaction. Around here, a new, ready to ride 150 scoot will cost you $1,700 from the showroom. I paid $900, and have maybe $100 in parts and purchased tools.

Hi all,
Location: Bowling Green, KY
25 years ago I used to ride a scooter and motorcycle, but got busy with career and life ... so this old fart buys a Tao Tao Powermax 150 crated, and does the PDI on it, finding 2 threaded holes which needed re-tapping, several loose fasteners, and a loose vac line. Replaced all fuel lines with the good thick ones, installed manual fuel cutoff valve and better filter, and removed the tank vent crap, replacing with just a small filter. Installed a new spark plug, and added anti-seize to the threads of it and the exhaust flange studs. The most difficult thing was struggling with getting those !#*&!!! plastic tabs in their slots.
Started up, and ran it up and down the long driveway (while waiting for title to arrive) and it ran fine until it started acting like it was stuck in hi gear - no takeoff torque at all.
So I remove the cvt cover and notice the the belt is deep into the rear pulley. Remove the clutch and rear pulley, and see it appears to be gunked up with wax grease. Cleaned all except the needle bearings, added some fresh grease and re-assembled. The installed belt is a 835 ? I thought with 12 inch wheels it should be bigger?
After re-assembly, all seems to be well. Getting my plate tomorrow.
