It just for fun and the point is well taken, and would need to be addressed before any purchase is made. If SYM sells one within her budget I would highly recommend it. Apology unnecessary, and while the Sym will be in her budget relatively speaking (cheaper than the Honda she was planning on), it will definitely be more than this, i'd guess roughly twice the price without looking it up. An another note, Aliexpress shows a Daehan made Wave clone too... Me wants. Thanks. I'm thinking that because it's an established manufacturer in Korea the quality is probably superior to the Chinese product, also the fact they are listed as having started in 1962 tells me it's bound to be of good quality, we just haven't heard of them yet (see Mahindra article) Because they are gaining a foothold here may bode well for the future, remember when the Japanese motorcycle brand names sounded....well odd :-

Yah, but look at it this way, if it works out (and the brand is being sold all over Europe) she'll be on the cutting edge and be allowed to sit at the "cool kids" table in the lunch room. Snickers and swats, "I'm being practical, with a limited budget, you do need to consider the future repairability. With anything GY6 based, you're pretty safe even if the importer and/or manufacturer goes under, but on something like this, you're taking a bit of risk, and need to ask if you can afford it." It just for fun and the point is well taken, and would need to be addressed before any purchase is made. If SYM sells one within her budget I would highly recommend it.

I prefer the newer style Wave cub clones, which unfortunately aren't sold here. As cookees noted, SYM already makes one, apparently they used to make assemblies for Honda, and lost the contract after they decided to start making whole bikes without permission. The Symba is apparently not a clone in the typical sense, but SYM's 'improved' version. Only foreseeable problem is the engine, since a 110 is prolly not a GY6, doubly so as the engine placement is different, so you're taking a bit of a chance ifn the brand doesn't last. Still, if the build quality is there, that might not matter much. Yah, but look at it this way, if it works out (and the brand is being sold all over Europe) she'll be on the cutting edge and be allowed to sit at the "cool kids" table in the lunch room.

It's a toss up. (I wouldn't want to lock horns with either one.)

A lot of times we in the U.S. are the LAST to find out what's going on in the world. (Particularly about scooters) Here's another name you probably haven't heard of but will in future, MAHINDRA, The giant and long established motor company from India. (just look what they've been up to.) www.cycleworld.com/2015/02/10/mahindra-buys-peugeot-scooters-division/

That link to Rad Cycles is the store (and the exact scooter), he currently has for sale. He did say that he has some more Daehan's available though, if that one gets sold. I'm sad at the prospect of giving up my PCX right now (not all is lost yet, but it's looking that way for the time being), but I'm a bit excited at this scooter's specs. The only other scooters in this price range had a max speed of 35mph (Honda Metropolitan, for example), and I need something that goes a hair bit faster. Get the PCX later. Besides the Honda ain't exactly cheap.

You're welcome. Looks to be a established company breaking into the American market.

I would call one or more of the scooter part suppliers out there and ask if they could get it by special order.
