Agreed. The Rokon is not fast, but it is virtually unstoppable. $7860.00 Not exactly cheap though.

It kind of reminds one of when Fiona Volpe riding a BSA A65L Lighting motorcycle, equipped with rocket launchers, blows two bad guys (chasing 007 in a car) to smithereens in Thunderball!

Scooters were meant as an economical (not fast) way to get around. For example, as a grocery getter, or for the ease of parking when Cosco is having a big sale and you can't find a space to save your life... ( a space for a CAR that is.)

1100.00 Dollars and sitting in the shop for what, over a month? THAT'S INSANE! I have a very nice Japanese Bando belt in my scoot, all of seventy bucks to buy and the Mechanic's fee's were very reasonable. (I see my mechanic almost every day....In the mirror.) Belt in a B650 goes a long time...I think the PM interval is 45K miles. Even so, even if it's a brand new 2017 model, that is still what, 10 percent of the sticker price... For a belt?!!!

"Allergic reaction to MSRP" HaHaHaHa! (I'll have remember that one.) I had issues with the paint colour on my scooter, but a rattle can paint job plus U-POL British made UV clearcoat, with some serious buffing and it shimmers like glass.

Well it turns out that Corradino D'ascanio (The designer of the Vespa) hated motorcycles, and made the Vespa, using aircraft techniques, as more of a two wheeled car. The roads and infrastructure in Italy at that time having been blown to pieces by allied bombing during the war. But the social differences could also be put down to the mid-sixties dichotomy between the "Rockers" and "Mods" in the UK at that time.

Finally as to "The rest of us" (A majority of one?) May I again point out this forum was started as a place for CHINESE riders, and not the other way 'round. If that is not to your liking, I'm sure you can find many OTHER blogs in which you will have the opportunity to vent your fructose-fueled phantasmagoric assertions of vehicular superiority.
Alright Gentlemen let's dial it back a notch. This particular forum descended from Scootdawg where any brand scooter owner was welcome. I won't pretend that for many years I was particularly defensive about having my Chinese scooters labeled as trash. Having one for nine years and the second for five has made me more secure in their usefulness. Others have not enjoyed my success. Everybody enjoys success in certain areas. Some people are ALWAYS in the right place at the right time. It's Karma. Many of us just stumble through life paying retail because the bargains either don't present themselves when we need them or just don't happen. I've been around a long time and it doesn't matter what scooter you own, Chinese or Brand Name, they all break sooner or later. How soon or how bad depends on the rider. This forum is for everyone to come to, give or get advice and relate their experiences. The days of flaming people and posturing is behind us. We all enjoy riding scooters and working on them. Keep that in mind. The funny thing is when I was a kid you could buy a Vespa or Lambretta in Sears or "Monkey" Ward's and it wasn't any big deal. Just a way to get around economically.

That does not change the fact that the prices of the Chinese scooters are what I indicated and that you can get similar deals today on 250cc and up sized scooters at Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kymco, Piaggio, etc sales and incentives events. There is the pervasive misconception perpetuated that this is impossible. The Chinese have decided for the most part that in the US size matters mentality that there is no market for an over 200cc scooter especially if its a 40 year old design with no oil filter or fuel injection. Yet Suzuki, Yamaha, Piaggio and Honda are pressing on. Aprilia did not pull out either rather it appears that parent company Piaggio did not like that Aprilia was outdoing them building scooters that preformed better using the same engines as their own Piaggio and Vespa brands and pulled their access to the engines only allowing them to have a 50cc. Piaggio even stopped them from continuing with their own Aprilia Fuel Injected 50cc 2 stroke that ran as fast as many Chinese 150cc scooters. Its Piaggio internal politics that is preventing Aprilia from continuing with anything more than a 50cc motard scooter. BTW: In your previous post you erroneously indicated it was because of being bribed with a jelly doenut that I got a discount. You really need to make up your mind. For the rest of us please "Look before you leap" which is what I have said all along as there are still bargains to be had that you'll never find out about if you listen to the Princess Bride mentality claiming that its "Inconceivable" for normal people to get good deals today on anything but a Chinese scooter especially if your matured past the need for just a sub 65 mph 150/200cc scoot. Let's see shall we?.... You are not going to get a Honda or Piaggio scooter for the price of a Chinese scoot, that is simply a day-to-day reality. Might I point out one of our latest members has a VERY nice Wolf V150, going for the budget breaking price of $1800.00? (Well $1799 actually, but who would be so petty as to not overlook one dollar in cost?) BTW, the price of a Vespa in 1965 was $244-$269 dollars, less than $2100.00 in today's money...Can we say overpriced? As far as no market for larger bikes with no oil filter or fuel injection, may a point out that the Chinese 260 scoot you used as an example HAS said fuel injection? (But why confuse you with the facts right?) Now on to your all persuasive donuts, if you read carefully, you'll see I suggested it as what you SHOULD have done. In such a state of sugar induced ecstasy the dealer probably would have simply handed you the keys and title.

Bandito, You are 100% correct, the PO did have work done on it and whoever did it messed up the hose connections. I took a picture whenever I removed anything to make sure I put every hose and screw back in the right place.
So, within a week of getting these scooters I had located and printed out all 401 pages of the 2001-2007 Honda service manual. And thanks to some of the guys here I have the service guide for rebuilding the water pump, should mine ever fail.
I am not afraid to attempt any job, big or small, unfortunately I'm dealing with a "phantom" back problem that first hit me in mid Dec. The problem is that it only shows up after I do manual labor such as changing my oil or rotating my tires, and no amount of pills, physical therapy, or chiropractic manipulation seems to keep it away for good.
So, you best believe I will be hitting you all up for your advice, knowledge and wisdom.
Wish me luck as I take the MSF course this weekend, Maxtera out!! Something you might also wish to consider in addition to the service manual and pictures and that is a notebook, I use them to make simplified drawings of what work I've done, in addition to writing down the sequencial steps I used To get there. (and the names and websites of any suppliers of parts or special tools I might have needed for that particular repair.)

Some scooters can pull it off,, 4 guys entered the Paris/Dakar race in 1980 with 4 px200's,,, mild building on them with a frame brace and bigger fuel tank,,, pretty bold move,,, they were the laughing stock at the start of the race,, one dropped out early ,,, Half way thru the race no one was laughing,,, and it looked like the 3 that were left might finish with a 75% success rate when factory teams were lucky to get 27% ,,, another one broke before the finish,,,but a 50% finish rate was fabulous,,, they were the heros of the race,, Doncha love it when the underdawg wins?
