Sad thing is most dealerships miss the traded in large wheel scooters when someone buys them. When picking up some things for my Aprilia the salesman commented that they just sold one and they really mis having it to jump on for errands and as a chase bike when someone takes a Cruiser or Sport bike on a test ride. They were amazed at how well a large wheel 250 can keep up with a 750cc to 1.2 liter bike on a public street or even the highway where the posted limit must be observed. They liked the riding position and more civil way engine heat was dealt with too especially by the end of the day when they would normally be beat by the heat.

I am opposed to seizure of personal property by law enforcement. Seizing illegal drugs and stolen property is OK, but they shouldn't take your car or your bike. Such property seizure is unconstitutional and an abuse of authority, in my opinion. I'm pointing my finger at our lawmakers in this case, rather than our police officers. Bikes were not street legal and had to be towed to lawfully get them off the road. The alleged owners never claimed them and there was no filing of an owner of record so after the aging period were deemed abandoned and not worth auction so they were destroyed. Nothing unconstitutional here just the police legally transporting the bikes to the impound yard where the rightful owners could come with a truck or trailer to pick up the not street legal bikes and atv's.

I have seen pictures of some heaves that look like they are 3 to 5 feet tall on some Texas Interstates during the dog days of summer. Those seem like they would be unrecoverable in anything except for the General Lee.

It is critical to get the ends of the boss flat and square or the drive faces will wobble running rough and eating belts.

Can't locate an owner who never put his off road bike into the system and failed to report the theft. They did close the window on the hoolagans leaving their bike in impound and having a buddy buy it back at a fraction of the impound and storage fees they owed the city. Sent a message to the hoolagins showing that they aren't going to put up with them and their poor behavior.

Operating outside the law with willful intent and then skipping and having your now abandoned impounded bike crushed instead of auctioned is different from taking a bike from someone and destroying it with no opportunity to claim it back from impound because they mailed their registration renewal payment a bit late.
Remember we are talking about willful lawbreakers who skipped without claiming the bikes which could mean some potentially many were stolen which bring to attention the need to register all your road bikes and at least maintain a VIN/Serial number listing of your off road vehicles/equipment and reporting when they are stolen.
It would be sad if many of the destroyed bikes had been stolen and the rightful owners never reported the thefts and ID numbers to the police.

Have they not heard of auctions? Remember in New York they had gangs of unlicensed riders harassing motorists, breaking windows and trying to pull them out of their cars. They want to send the "Get Out of Dodge and Stay Out" message to these guys. It's a drastic situation that these bad apples in the Big Apple have created so drasic measures appear to be in place now. They really asked for it and have no one to blame but themselves.

Great news!
Here they impound the bike and hold it there until you take and pass the Motorcycle Safety Foundations Basic Rider Course to ensure that you are able to ride safely without endangering pedestrians along with other motorists and are insured correctly to pay for any damage you cause.
Something has to be done about these scofflaws who habitually refuse to man up and assume their duty to be responsible citizens and follow the rules of the road. These unlicensed riders give us all a bad name because of their actions and its good to see something being done to stop them.
Hopefully more cities will follow this example and help stop the mayhem these outlaw riders cause on our streets. Its better to have them loose their rides than to have them continue to be out there harassing motorists who in some areas are so fed up with these guys that they will be more inclined to run down or shoot a rider just for being out their riding.

Material Safety Data Sheet comparisons . . .
Seafoam per MSDS: Pale Oil 40-60% Naphtha 25-35% Isopropyl Alcohol 10-20%
Berryman's B12 per MSDS: Toluene 40-50% Acetone 20-30% Methanol 20-30% Methyl Ethyl Ketone <5% Isopropyl Alcohol <5% 2-Butoxyethanol <5%
Yep Seafoam like you listed is mostly Pale Oil or in other words Diesel Fuel mixed with Naptha and Rubbing Alcohol which should work when used in moderation to help keeps things lubed and clean when their not too bad. Berryman has the heavy duty cleaners in it without the large amounts of Isopropyl or Diesel Fuel which if used in heavy concentrations is not good for your spark plug or valves.

I am not a big fan of replacing carbs without trying to clean them first. First attempt should be to add 2 or 3 ounces per gallon of Berrymans B12 Fuel system cleaner to the gas tank and trying to start it a few time letting it run as long as you can until the engine get warmed up a bit and the cleaner into the fuel bowl then let it sit overnight and try again the next morning to see how that went. Repeat this morning and night for a few days and you may see enough improvement to start riding without replacing or taking anything apart as far as the carb is concerned. The valves still may need adjustment. It has to be Berrymans B12 and not Seafoam for a remediation. Seafoam is great for mild cases and to keep thing from getting too bad but once its gone too far you have to use the Berrymans to have a chance at success. Walmart usually carries Berrymans as does Advance Auto Parts.
Ethanol absorbs the water from the air and holds it in suspension since the corn alcohol in the ethanol has an affinity with water however once the alcohol starts to evaporate or gets past its maximum saturation point it will release the water and form algae turning you fuel milky and gelatinous.

Don't you kiddo's also get some pretty horrific heaves and ripples in the road too? As memory serves some would have done well to promote the first flight. Those must be pretty hard to see especially at night.
One thing to watch out for when upgrading your bulbs or even changing them especially if you have the automotive type mounts is that you get the bulbs and holders securely in place. I have seen too many folks only kind-sorta get them in only to have them come loose and cut a slot in the plastic lamp housing from the heat of the lit bulbs glass touching the plastic.

Those unpainted curbs that stick out can be a problem at night. I rode over one a while ago on a moonless night but the 15" wheels on the Aprilia just soaked it up and made for an easy recovery.
Low focused lighting is what you need to see those things.
Some aim their aux lighting to hit street signs and such which is really bad in a fog or mist and when other drivers may be present.

OK, got the wider belt today. It was good for about 3 mph on the top end and no loss of power on the bottom end. The weird thing is that the ink on the variator has barely moved. It is 4mm still, so the belt is only riding 1mm higher on the top end than a stock width belt. It is surprising that 1mm can make that much of a difference. I am at a loss to explain it. For every action on the varitor there is the opposite reaction on the clutch sheave. 1 mm higher near the outer edge of the variator can pull the belt several mm deeper down between the clutch sheeves.

You can find HMV Freeways for about $800 if you look around: Slingshots a bit tame compared to Ray Smiths Bell JetCopter Powered Trike.
