My friend said that he would change the crank bearing along with the washers?? or whatever they are that go on the ends of the bearings or something like that. He said we should also change the piston pin bearing, which could also cause this kind of trouble. A new crank would be the last thing I would buy, I'm really kind of short on money right now.

Thank you for the replies!
I think I'll just buy it, and then replace the bearings and see if that fixes it. If no, then a new crank it is. I have a friend who used to be a scooter nut, he said he's willing to help me with the repairs. I guess I can spend a lot on this machine, if I only pay a 100€ (about 130-140$) for it, I have a lot of cash left over for repairs. As far as I know, this scooter also has a good condition chassis.
Cheers!

Hello! Before I begin, I would like to apologize for my poor English, and please don't be too harsh about my technical skills, as I'm pretty new to all this stuff I've wanted a bike for a long time and now I can get a good deal on a used Yamaha Neos from a friend for only 100€. The bike is in a good condition, but has one weird engine problem. There is weird clunking noise and a considerable loss of torque and speed. We took a look at it and discovered that the crankshaft is loose. We suspect dead bearings. Could this be the source of this problem? How hard would it be to repair this? I know a new set of bearings is about 20-25€. And I know the proper installation method (heat the bearing socket, freeze the bearing, then push crankshaft into place) I really don't have any experience with repairing engines, I repair electronics for a living Cheers!
