Well just dip on down a little and pass right on through Arkieland! ((* Let's see leaving Saturday and if you'll put a foot in ti and just stay on Int 40 you'll end up in my neck of the woods by Sunday evening! ^) Also you'll not get cold as it's back to the good old triple digit temps you're used to at home. The clutch shaft may need lube . A valve adjustment should be a half hour shop time and prices vary from shop to shop . The engine must be cold to get a proper reading to see if they even need adjusting . Any autopart store should have valve gauges with the bent tip for 3 dollars or you could bend a standard flat blade feeler gauge set of blades . All 4Ts will need to have it done at least once , with some needing it to be done out of the crate . My Echarm needing it around 2,200 miles and I am almost at 18k miles and it still runs great . Prodigit I would look on Amazon for the Haynes Chinese Scooter repair manual since I bought a used copy ( was like brand new ) for only 6 dollars with free shipping . New is around 25 or so there and at the sponsors here . It is a great weath of information , tips and exploded diagrams . I get one for every car I buy or a Chilton brand . Stock rollers ? They may have started or already have flat spots which prevents them from " rolling " like they can do better when new and round . I replaced the stock rollers at 5,500 miles as they just started to get flat spots with Dr Pulley sliders after hearing how great they are . It is true sliders are waaaaaaaay better in performance and outlast rollers . The DRP has a thicker coating and is harder too . I have read only a few posts that said DRP was hard and ate up a stock variator and some prefered to use KOSO brand of sliders . With 12k of miles on them take off is faster and now I top out at 70MPH instead of 75MPH like I used to . The ECU has a rev limiter in my Echarm . On my 2T I put on a Hoca bb torque spring base ( stock does not have BBs ) which allows to torque spring to spin instead of get in a bind . It does sound like I have several " gears " more so than with the stock base . Stock rollers ? They may have started or already have flat spots which prevents them from " rolling " like they can do better when new and round Rollers do not roll, if they did they wouldn't get the flat spots that they do. They simply slide and over time wear a flat spot. I'm seen them so bad they actually looked like sliders. When they wear flat spots top end is effected somewhat simply because the OD or height of the roller is reduced thus the variator face plate will not push the belt as far to the outermost part of the variator. You can search and still find a vendor here and there that has the tall Givi windshield for the Honda Reflex and by going just a couple of inches taller not only will it cut the noise but stop those bugs from splattering on your helmet.
I think the windshield has been discontinued by Givi but again there are a few out there that still have one in stock.

I read this 3 times and the best theory I could come up with is you had a combination of problems: Bad pickup coil Bad ignition switch Alley hit the nail on the head and I only know of two 50cc scooters that have a DC type CDI and this isn't one of them so that part of the equation is out. Either the AC feed or the pickup coil feed to the CDI wasn't making a good connection and you removing or replacing the kill wire helped make the other wires make a good connection or you mistaken the kill wire for another, or the kill wire was in the wrong spot? That's the only scenarios that I can think of that would cause this. *) Either way the good thing is the scooter is running. JR

JR - how much are those crate clones to your door? Are there many aftermarket goodies for them? Because that's where any money saved on this Reflex would go, lol. One thing I hate is the whisper quiet exhaust... So does this improve your chances of getting a Reflex? Yes! Maybe... I plan to do some more homework on what made-in-Taiwan aftermarket goodies for the clones might fit a reflex A lot of times bikes at dealerships sit for months. Ask them how long its been there. Not having fresh fuel hurts performance too. Is the rear shock adjustable? The Burgman was and when I got mine it was way to tight... It's only about a month old on the lot. I ride by this place almost everyday fetching tires for my work and eye-bang (from the shop truck) what they have sitting outside (they go in at night and if it rains). And yes! I quickly found out they have adjustable pre-load on the rear suspension after some more googling. It's funny, this 'K-mod' that was mentioned is simply a roller weight change... Reflex people act like it's some ancient Chinese, er... Japanese(?) secret, lol Evidently these things have some strange just-for-the-geezers Honda variator that uses two very different weight rollers and has two very different ramp plate profiles. I kept hearing it referred to as a 'two-stage' variator... The 'k-mod' is simply removing the lighter rollers from one of the profile ramps, which sounds like it leaves it acting like a typical variator with lighter weights. Other folks just bought a variator for the 250cc 'big ruckus' and tune to taste. Me, well... I immediately started wondering if you could experiment with changing the weight of the rollers in both ramp profiles to get something better than the above two scenarios... I haven't yet joined their message board to see if anyone has tried, but from stuff I have found searching so far, it doesn't seem like many Reflex riders are also scooter mechanics... JR - how much are those crate clones to your door? Are there many aftermarket goodies for them? Because that's where any money saved on this Reflex would go, lol. One thing I hate is the whisper quiet exhaust...Like anything it depends on what you want? The Reflex clones come with two engines the linhai 257cc horizontal clone and the 244cc helix vertical clone engine. Both engines solid and reliable, the helix clone the oldest version and parts are everywhere for the engine, one in many cases if they want to pay the price can use OEM Honda parts. The linhai version is the newest version and parts are a lot more available than when it came out around 06. I run the linhais and people that know me know I favor that engine. When you say after market parts I'm presuming you're talking about modding it? One can buy a BBK for both engines, just like the GY-6 gains are minimal. CVT upgrades CDI, etc available for both engines, the helix clone will be easier to find. Other than the engines the scooters are identical part for part and again they are a perfect look alike clone of the Honda Reflex. Again the Reflex has a impeccable track record, why Honda stopped making it who knows? About the only flaw in the scooter which can be worked with, I have known them to want to run a little hot in very hot weather when you really put them on the grinder so to speak. I had a friend that was born and raised in Arkansas come visit me just a couple of months ago that is retired. He is on my forum and his 250 with the vertical engine had the starter lock in place and he messed the engine up unknowingly. He is a retired RV traveler and was on the west coast. He took the scooter to a Honda dealer and they wouldn't work on it. He purchased a used Reflex from them with 12k on it and rode the scooter all the way back to Arkansas over 1000 miles to NW Arkansas. He came to visit me one day where I live in Central Arkansas and rode to Reflex. The 250 clone scooter he had is now Dougs and he is rebuilding the engine and it'll be in good shape again. As I said I bought all my scooters online first ones in 08 a Bali 150 and my 250B. My wife liked my 250 so a year later I bought a 07 250A and she rides that now. In 08 gas went way over $4 a gallon so I bought the first two for gas savings and fun. Bought both from a dealer that was a crook and I didn't know it. A year later they were out of business, good thing for me is I bought two good scooters. The market was flooded with scooters in 07 and 08 due to the gas thing and sales dipped and dealers were left with a lot of scooters in the crates that in some cases didn't sell for years later. As late as 2011 Killer was selling 07 250A's new out of the warehouse and they dipped the price down to as low as $1200, other dealers did the same. I don't know if any of these are still out there? If so one might could still get a real deal? If I found one and needed it I would totally strip it replace everything including tires and valve stems and ride it, I wouldn't be afraid of it. Here is the latest deal on a 250B from Killer: www.killermotorsports.com/250cc_Cruiser_Gas_Scooter_w_Trunk_Alarm_p/r-mc-54-250.htmNow like any dealer some people say great dealer others may not say that. Myself Killer has always treated me right. Never had an issue. My last purchase was a go kart this past Christmas and the warehouse sent the wrong model go kart, they quickly sent papers to ship it back and had the correct one sent to me in a week, and all was well. Here's the deal, buy online expect to be a mechanic. Do a PDI no matter what, resist the urge to just gas it up and ride. Want to just ride go buy from a B&M dealer and just like online hope you get a good dealer. JR

I thought 2,500 seemed a little high... this is from a dealership though, who supposedly gave it a once-over and a 'tune-up'... I've seen a few other reflexes on Craigslist near me, they all want $2-2,500 and have closer to 10-20,000 miles on them. It does have some quirks that remind me of my Chinese scooters... the glove box door doesn't line up 100% when closed and the latch feels cheap. It's got your standard Chinese dash-rattle too... only at certain rpms. I do like how the feet-forward position is sooo comfortable as well as the backrest. I'm no stranger to knee and backaches so this is pretty awesome. I know the clones would be the same, but there isn't any comparable clone to be found around me. And no-way am I going to shell out cash for a new Chinese 250 from a crate, I'd just as soon buy the Reflex. All four scooters I own all from online buy and delivered to my front door. Two of the 250 clones the JCL 250A for my wife and the Roketa 250B for me both identical even same color except the name is different. Both with the 250 linhai horizontal clones, both trouble free and run like a scalded ape. Mods are went from 14 gram rollers to 12g sliders and adjusted the needle on the carb. Added extra cooling for hot Arkansas weather. My 250B has over 12k and I've rode it to Dallas Texas five times over the last two years which is 408 miles one way. last time it was in July and 106F in Dallas when I arrived to bumper to bumper 6 p.m traffic. With the sliders I have better take off more pulling power up the Ozark mountains and she'll purr down the highway at 65 mph all day long yes even in over 100F weather. I also put larger tires on and again bought it in a crate. Buying a scooter online = one thing. Don't expect to open the crate, put the battery in and gas and haul butt. tear it down, go through it top to bottom and then have a reliable scooter. After all your 150 wasn't what you wanted until you made it that way. I wouldn't be afraid to get on mine fill her up with gas and go anywhere in this country I wanted but that's me. I have done good PM on this scooter but I haven't babied it either, I ride the snot out of it. JR

First of all $2500 too much with 7k on it. Actually looked at one today a 04 with 900 miles on it and not a scratch for $1700. Not interested, just looked. I have the 250B clone and it runs well and I'm not interested, just saw this one for sale and looked.
I see you've modded the 150 so it'll be quicker off the line but the 250 water cooled dependable reflex will run the 150 air cooled GY-6 in the dirt and be running long after it quits especially if you're running it in hot conditions like I do in the south. At 7k the 250 is just broke in good. You can change the CVT on the Reflex with minimum cost and make it just as quick as the 150 so it depends on what you want, speed, low MPG, harder engine wear or MPG, longevity and at a little less get up and go?
If you can get it down a little think Reflex = run as long as I want with good maintenance and buy it.
