support.proboards.com/thread/460878/managing-attachmentsIt was asked about attachments last night and when the forum converted to the new system the maximum download allowance has been exceeded. This is a new thing with Proboards it seems they are doing what some of the free photo hosts are doing now and that's allowing you to use a small download and in this case I believe it's 200mb. When the forum converted so did the attachments also. Now you can read in the link above what they are telling all admins about the allowance and I did ask this question that wasn't clear in their Help guide. Does the allowance reset to zero monthly and the answer was No. Once the allowance is exceeded the only options are buy more space or delete some of the or all of the attachments. I went through the list which I can do and just looked at some to see if they really had any real relevancy but while I might think one might not be important others may not think the same. So here is the choices and myself I use a photo host and we all know they are slowly doing the same thing but there is still enough of the free photo host sites out there that using the attachment function isn't necessary, delete all the attachments and when it is full again, delete it again or buy more space. The later is not an option for Doug or myself as we give enough of our time freely taking care of this forum. We're not soliciting funds for this because personally we think we can live without it but we will listen to feedback from members and then discuss it later. We would appreciate all feedback. JR

Don't need a thread, not sounding rude, know the issues. Believe me when I say this I just got through with another forum conversion and people who belong to both these forums can tell you I got it together rather quickly. Right now I'm waiting on a call from Doug so I can get a few things set and start working tonight. My hopes is to have it done by early a.m. When I get it fine tuned then I'll ask for feedback to tweak things so to speak. Alley can tell you I listen to the desires of the members. You can look at my recent conversion and Dougs too at these sites. www.thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/scooterrebels.proboards.com/

Great and let me all tell you this, it doesn't matter if you changed your email a dozen times, YOU MUST have the email that YOU ORIGINALLY registered with even if it was years ago? If you don't have that email even if it's not good any more you'll have to sign up again, Sorry.

Scratch that, I have your email and username don't even know why I asked but here is your problem. Go to your profile and you'll see you misspelled you original username and it's spelled like this: salracer You changed the spelling in your display name to sailracer. You cannot login with a display name, got to be your USERNAME.

Are you absolutely sure you used the email that you registered here with? Sometimes they do have a glitch in the system and PM me with your email and I can check with PB. Also sailracer is your username, not display name correct? PM's do not transfer but all this forum content like these threads do.

The system is working as I just checked to see if others have signed in and they have. Try clicking on Register and put your email in and hit continue. If the email you used to "sign up" with this forum is in their system a screen will come up saying put in your password.
We still are on the waiting list and will convert as soon as they get to us.

They are not trash, they are for racing and people who race on a short drag could care less about heat to an extent. They want HP and the less drag the More HP. Now I'll wait to see how his performance fan is doing. Right now we are in the fall, put a GY-6 in his state in July and in my state with temps at 100F = and I think it'll run hotter? Why more fins = more air but more fins = more engine work = more heat. You have to have a happy medium. I also by tests I've done myself in 100F heat know what a GY-6 will do at various speeds with a stock fan so this will be interesting and the best way to measure the heat is by the engine oil temp. JR We race here all the time at drag strips and racers at the drag strip do not run fans, fan covers or shrouds. So there is no point to use that fan when your only gonna have your scooter on for less than a minute and turn it right off after you made your pass. Most people buying those fans see them online see the word "Racing" and think oh my engine is going to be cooled even better. Most people dont realize that the word racing usually means "lighter" less weight the crankshaft has to turn. I stopped selling them because the ones buying those fans were not drag racers or for there race scooters. They were normal everyday people going back and forth from work or cruising. It may be fall but its still hot in most parts of the country. Here its degrees today and we are now running this new fan in our scooters including the new Taida 232cc Engine we just built and so far everything has been running great. You just made the point of what parts dealers were doing to many and that was selling fans that not only allowed engines to run hotter but were a gimmick to start with because they weren't made to do proper cooling. And some racers do use them for minimum cooling especially for the ones who sometimes run back to back races. Also just because it's fall and warmer in one place doesn't mean that's the way it is everywhere? Hi here today in the deep south = 80F. Also tests mean real tests not just I put my hand up there and it "felt" like more air and "my customers are happy". Tests should be on a stock GY-6 which has less than 10Hp not a modded up 232cc engine. I would think this engine would pull the fan well. Let's also remember the GY-6 like any air cooled engine when running in extremely hot weather will bog down to a degree just because of the heat as any engine will, even humidity effects engine performance. As a fellow who has worked in all fields of maintenance and fabrication designing and building air flow systems and the study of them was one of my expertizes over the years and like I said more fins = more air = more work = more drag = more needed HP and can result in more heat if the load is too great. Just like maximum performance on the rpm to HP curve is needed for best engine performance so is air flow and most engine designers rate a fan at a happy medium to the engine. Even the terrain you run in will determine heat. I run in a variety and if you're running in the hills in July you don't need any extra engine drag and it's a given more air from any fan will need more HP. Tests I conducted centered around same distance, same speed, same temperature, humidity and a very accurate thermometer to conduct the tests. Also they were all conducted on the worse temps of 100F+ days and there is a lot of difference even in 95F weather versus 100F+ and even the fact it has been raining where he is at will not be the same as in July. He's in the deep south also and believe me he'll tell you that if you can keep a engine cooler in July you're doing good. Want to eliminate the it feels like it's putting out more air by hand? Want to know how to measure CFM? Get one of these and you can get one on Ebay cheap and yes I have one. www.instrumart.com/products/24158/extech-45118-mini-thermo-anemometerDo wind tests with the stock fan at designed RPM's and lastly check engine speed at WOT on the stock fan and if you got a tach record that also then go to the performance fan and do identical tests, go it on a stock engine which is what lots of people have and then tell me the results so I can base a decision on real facts not a sales gimmick. You must use your USERNAME not DISPLAY name to register or sign in. If you changed to a different display name here that name will not work.
Lastly you must use the email you have on file here that you registered with, even if you don't use it any more. If you no longer have that email then you may have to register again if it doesn't recognize the username.
Folks I've tried to get all to do this on the test forum for months so these problems could be corrected should you have any.

It's no secret that our software provider Proboards is changing from the current version (V4) to the new upgrade called V5. Earlier Doug and I announced that we would make this request on Oct. 15th and not wait until the holiday season at the end of the year for it to automatically update. By setting a date and time and doing it by request one can be better prepared for the change over and getting everything up to speed. There is a lot more to converting than just making the request, some things like the banner for instance do not transfer when it converts and there are codes and script to put in along with things that make the forum easier to navigate and things that people will like over the old forum. I again tell you if you didn't go over to the test site and check it out and go through the login procedure then please do so. It will make it easier for you to use if you've never been on a V5 forum. betaitistheride.freemessageboards.com/Also again here is a helpful video about the login procedure. It's here and time and we hope you'll hang in there until we get things smoothly running. I just got finished with my forum conversion and since I know along with Doug how these things go hopefully in a very short time things will be fine. Doug has sent everyone a mass PM about this conversion and either he or I will email you too. JR
