I may have cracked this one! It looks to have been a mix of a few things, the fan was almost seized which is now fixed, the fan switch is totally dead which means I need a new one which I've ordered. Also the temperature sensor connection lug was just about hanging off so that means that needs soldering back on.
I'm just hoping the bike was over-heating and cutting itself out? Not sure if this is a feature the bike has?

Just a quick update, I've just checked the pump and seems to be working fine I've tried to adjust the fuel/air mix but turning the screw as the haynes manual says didnt alter the idle at all so I put it back to where it was previously. I did however note that after the bike had been on tick over for a while the temperature light came on. Obviously I checked the coolant levels and they were all fine as I would expect as they were re-filled when the bike was re-built. I took it for a quick ride about 1/2 a mile and it was fine, didnt cut out but the light stayed on. Could it be that it is getting to hot and automatically cutting out? Any ideas where I should start looking to fix this problem as I dont want to start ripping everything out if its something simple as an air lock in the system.
As always any help is greatly appriciated!

It doesn't seem to be overheating and the valves were adjusted when the new cylinder went in. I'll have a look at the fuel pump today and see what that brings. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll keep you posted!

Hi, my first post on the forum. I have a Honda Blackbird and also a Honda Dylan 125 (slight difference I know) The Dylan seems to have a bit of a problem, it has just had a new piston and barrel put on and has good compression, and a good spark from a new plug. So the bike starts up and ticks over okay, runs well at tick over and if you twist the throttle on the stand it will rev up as you'd expect. The problem comes when you take it out, its will go for about 1 mile before loosing power. This happened once previously and I couldn't get it started again so put it away. Some time later (2 months ish) I put a bit more fuel in even though it already had some then started it and took it out for a ride again, again the same thing happened! Once again I couldn't get it started so I took it home. After some persistence it did eventually start again.
Ive just taken it out again this minute and it starts fine and ran well but then the pitch of the engine changed like a bike would if it was out of fuel then it lost power and again died. I'm thinking this may mean that its being fuel starved but can't work out how. I opened the fuel filler cap to see if it sucked in air like it would with vapor lock but didn't get that.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should be looking for to get this scooter working so I can start enjoying it!
