Cool John, What I am looking for is a cdi that does not have the rev restriction and does not mess with the timing, 5 pin AC gy6, 50 cc or 70 cc....... Thanks

Yep, the one I got "blue" took away the restriction. It adds a little more to the throttle but makes it idle a little rougher. I may try a programmable one. I always thought that if one advances the timing you risk burning valves? My power is good, I just don't like it when I feel the restriction kicking in and the loss of power.

Can any one give me the striaght scoop in these performance cdi's. I have read they advance the timing, but I don't see how that is possible. Or they say they make the plug fire earlier. I can see how they take the rev restriction out. The reason I ask is I put one on my gy6 70cc chain driven motor. It knocked out the revlimiter good! But I am still keeping it between 6k and 7k. My plug is a nice gray ash color. I had to adjust my fuel mix to run richer to get the idle down. Any ideas? I would hate to ruin this motor. Thanks,

Thanks for the info. Before I changed the sprockets out it would go up to 8k rather quickly and stop their and not go beyond no matter what and top speed would be a jerky 30mph. Now with the sprocket change the rpm goes up gradually and it cruises at 40 easily. It felt like the cdi kicked in at around 7500 . I could go faster now , but why. Anyways, Would the no rev CDI help on take off??? Now that I did the sprocket swap take off is slower, but I like the top end speed.

This is a 4 stroke with peddles. The two stoke guys at moped army hate them! So far since I switch the gearing I am happy. It is a china made moped, so time will tell. The motor is a Honda clone. I crunched the numbers and it is getting plus mpg, regular fuel. I was happy to give up the oil mixing with my old two stroke moped. The only draw back is it is slow off the start, but I new that when I switch the sprockets. I still need to check into the variator....

Yep, no on the 8 k! I am not approaching that now. I was considering the new CDI. As far as the variator goes, I am not sure this set up has one, just a clutch as far as I can see???

Hello to all, I am new here. Has anyone bought a ssr lazer 5. I bought one several weeks ago with the 70cc kit. At first I was not impressed with it. The cdi would kick in just below 7 grand and kill the performance. I put up with this for 150 miles. I than switched the rear 43 tooth sprocket to a 36 tooth and the front 12 tooth to a 14 tooth. What a difference! Before I could only go 30mph, now I can hit 50 and stay just at 8 grand. I am going to keep her at 40 mph till things get fully broke in, this all I really need anyway. Any ideas or comments? I'll keep you all up dated on its performance and such if anyone is interested. Karl
