It will lose rpms going uphill, but the slowest i go uphill, any hill is about 40. The hills i go up arent steep they are just long. Florida is generally pretty flat..lol. i may ned lighter ones then. Would the stuck variator cause a vibration at a high mph? The rpms go up to 10k. Redline starts at 8k. Im at 8k or so at 50mph. I try not to take it past redline, but ill run it right at redline. Its been a few weeks since i put the bbk on it. I put the valves at .004 , think they could have come out of adjustment this soon?
Also, just so i undetstand. The variator plate pushes out, and the belt will expand tightening it on the clutch pully?

I cant start it at all right now i dont think. I sat for like 20 minutes to kick it over and i couldnt get it going. And right now it seems the starter is having a hard time moving the variator assembly. If its the variator could it stop the starter from turning the motor easily?

You have a trike ally...what would be some good weights to run? Right now my top speed is around 50 with just the bbk, but it may be a good idea to do the variator next if im having problems with it ya know.

This all started on the ride home from the store. It will start, I got it to fire up on the kick start about an hour or so ago. But, a few days ago I aired up the tires because they were low. I started getting a vibration once the scooter got to about 50mph. The whole steering and front end would bounce. When I got home friday I drove it up to the store once on friday night, no problems. Then on saturday I got to the store again, and on the ride back to the house, I noticed going up a large hill that it felt like a clutch slipping, it wasnt much, but i could feel it. I made it up the hill, drove up the second hill, and again it felt like a clutch slipping. The RPMs did not drop while it was doing this. It felt more like the drive train. But once I got to the top it started to squeak a bit and felt like the motor could not push the thing forward. I was able to start the motor, but it wouldnt go past about 2krpm and wouldnt move at all. It WILL start. I can get it to start right now with a major pain in the of a time. The kickstart is back on but very hard to start, the only real easy way to do it is via the starter. Heres another picture and a video.

Well that is def not it. I put the kick start back on and managed to get it to start up twice like that. And it still does the same thing. I have a feeling like its the shaft the flywheel is attatched to. Maybe a bearing being out? I dont know at this point. I'm about ready to throw gas all over it and light it up.

Ok, so I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it is the starter/bendix. I took a video of what it is doing. So when I try to start it obviously it sounds like its having trouble starting. What I noticed when I took the CVT cover off was that the bendix is not disengaging from the flywheel. It would seem when I bought the new CVT cover that NONE of the bushings were in it already. Not knowing that the starter has a bushing that it needs as well, I tried to start it with just a socket and extentension on the end of the bendix and the first thing it does is move at an angle when its trying to start. So it has almost double the width of the end of the bendix to just move around where the bushing should be. It sounds like it is struggling to turn the flywheel, however I can turn it myself by hand with no problems. The belt looks alright, as well as the clutch. The only thing that I really notice that is the probably cause is the starter. Here is what it looked like when I took the CVT cover off of after trying to start it.

Also, this just came to mind. The engine seeemed to be hard to turn over, as if the engine wanted to start and go but something was stopping it or making it harder to turn. But i could get it going with a little finesse onlf the throttle

So i upgraded my scooter to a 100cc recently and have been riding it to work for about 2 weeks. Today was making a 5 minute ride to the store when i noticed that it wasn't speeding up like it should. It almost felt like a clutch slipping. I made it a few hundred feet or so and it just wouldn't move any more. It became very hard to start and when i could get it to start i could rev it up but it wouldn't move an inch. It sounded like the belt to the clutch was sqweaking a little but nothing else. While i was pushing it home there was a noise that was reverberating off the fender that sounded like a frog and a noise like a piece of metal was sliding up snd down a tube....the scooter has gained about 10 to 15mph since the upgrade and i have been running it at top speed in the mornings to get to work. Anybody have an idea as to what may be wrong? It is a trike btw.

I know you do scrappy, however, I tried to call yesterday so I could have one shipped 2 day, but nobody answered my calls. As 2 day shipping is not an option unless you call.

1. How would I tell if it is a TaoTao engine? And why would it be a 63cc if it was sold as a 50cc? 2. This # carb jet, where will it go? Is it a high jet or a low jet in the float bowl area? 3. I used ether to start on occasion, plus I always ride hard. I have to ride 20 miles to get to work in the morning and back at night. 4. Let's say I go with the kit carasdad has posted(mostly cause it is dirt cheap) what would I have to do if anything to this beast to make full use of the upgrade. 5. On my carb there are no adjustments that can be made, outside of the idle. No fuel air ratio screw on it. So it seems jets would be the only thing I could do to it unless I buy an aftermarket carb. Which I can't afford right now. 6. Let's say I was going to break this thing in the right way, how would I go about doing that? The only place I would REALLY have to ride this thing in hard at is the two mile stretch of road between my neighborhood and the back roads I take to get to work(mostly because of traffic) and then only in the afternoons, because I leave at 5am and there's no traffic in the morn.
