Hi guys,
I've owned many scooters including numerous Helixes. A few months ago I experienced some major vibration both riding and at idle with my 01 Helix. I replaced the entire clutch took it for a 20 mile ride and everything was swell. I put a cover on it and did'nt touch it for 4 months. Yesterday I decided to take it for a ride. Now I'm experiencing the same vibration again. As I said the clutch is brand new with just 20 miles on it but it just seemed obvious to me that it was clutch related so I've been concentrating on the clutch pads/shoes and CVT, taking things apart, cleaning them, sanding the pads, checking the rollers.. putting everything back together and starting over again. The belt is also brand new.
Finally I decided to be a little smarter about it and remove one thing at a time, while starting the bike up after removal. I eventually removed the entire CVT so that it is completely naked and to my surprise it still vibrates like crazy. I checked the oil - fine.
I had an older Helix that had a very bad vibration and it turned out to be old worn out engine mounts.
It actually just occurred to me, as I am writing, that this might be the issue. On my old 86, I literally had to drill, hammer and blow torch the old engine mounts out of the engine. It was a major job that took many hours. I don't think I have the wherewithal to do it again.
Anyone have any other ideas?
