so i put the carb in that is jetted larger and it seems to have stopped the backfiring but I am still lacking power. I read a lot of people have to tear apart the CVT and adjust the weights. My scooter just doesn't seem to want to go faster than 25. It still sputters just a little but it no longer backfires. Just loss of power that concerns me. it also seems to take a lot of time for my back wheel to start spinning after I give it gas. like i have to give it a lot of throttle just to get it to go. does this sound like the weights are my problem or something else? This new carb has had the auto enricher removed and the holes have been plugged up with JB Weld and I have a primer connected to that part of the carb. Don't know if that will affect anything now. It didn't when I had it connected to my old motor but not sure if it is a piece of information you all should know I am just looking for any advice. It seems like I am SOOOOO close to getting my scootie back on the road. Now I just can't get past the fact that it seems to have no power or just doesn't want to go....

exhaust is on tight. I am pretty sure my old carb which I put in just to see if it made a difference is jetted larger. I am just way confused as to why the new motor made so much difference. I have been running my old GY6 on this same set up for over a year and a half. What is it about the new motor that makes my scootie suddenly act up? ;X

I just bought a brand new 150cc GY6 motor that came complete with CVT, Carb and all the little doohickies that connect to the motor. CDI, spark plug wire, etc... I have installed the new motor and it starts great. Idles great. BUT here is my problem, the damned thing sputters and pops and kind of backfires really loud when I give it throttle a bit and it won't go any faster than about 25. I have my carb connected to a mikuni fuel pump with filter etc. My scooter ran just fine before and was set up this way so I figured I could just pop the motor in and go. NO DEAL. I even put my old carb in which was rejetted and had ran just fine before on old motor. This didn't work either. I was getting over 70 MPG before I swapped motors. I am kind of "stupid girl" when it comes to mechanics and everything I have done to it I have picked up off of this site and watching youtube. I am pretty sure my motor is in right and all the wires are hooked up correctly. Wouldn't it not start if it was put in incorrectly? The only thing different is that I have not installed my NGK iridium spark plug yet because the parts store has to order it, I am still using the one that was sent to me with the new motor. I have messed with the air/fuel settings as well a little bit. But seemed to not make much difference. Some people say it needs adjustment in valves which I can do as I did on my old motor and I also have the feeler gauges for it. But would that cause my problem? Sorry to bomb you but I am just at a complete loss. My ex used to do it all for me and now I am just kind of flying blind and don't have the money to take it to a shop. On another note, when the motor was shipped to me the tube from the back of the CVT was hooked to the front of the motor. Am I supposed to cut this tube in half and let both of them hang freely into the atmosphere? As of right now I just disconnected it from the head of the motor and left hanging from CVT but nothing from motor end just the bare metal tube. Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! thanks so much for all your great information on your sites. It has helped me tremendously in the past!
