yeah... she's having some starting issues but hopefully i will get them taken care of. i should hear something back this week. i hope tomorrow. i miss my baby.... i'm getting: - the charge issue looked at
- new back tire
- brake light looked at (they won't brighten or dim when brakes are applied)
- new head light
the funny thing is... was as SOON as i bought a car (for the wknds, mind you) the scooter got sooo jealous she wouldn't cooperate. i still (or try to) ride her Mon - Fri... but NOOOO she's not having any of it.

Late Breaking News...another development. looks like the battery isn't keeping a good charge so i'm having that looked at. the bike will start but i had to keep my hand on the gas (even at stop lights and signs) so it wouldn't shut off and have a HARD time starting again. but if i wait a while it starts up. i think it's the stater... but am waiting on the mechanic to give me the info.... updates to follow.

and the winner is.... the valve adjustment. got the bike home yesterday after getting the valves adjusted (it was due but i guess they went a little earlier than the schedule suggested) well they said she cranked after that. i had them keep the bike for another day to make sure. this morning at home in the open (under cover) she cranked on the 1st try. i will adjust the valves every 1500 instead of 2000 going forward. now i need to find the gear oil so i can change it. the book doesn't tell me where it is, a new back tire and headlight. other than that i THINK i'm good to go. thanks to you all!

ok to respond to the last two... the bike wants to start but just doesn't catch. you can hear it trying but w/o heat it just doesn't start. the bike is closer to the 250 miles for the valve adjustment so i left the bike at the shop for that. but i don't think the valves have anything to do w/heat. i think the heat is causing something to connect that allows the bike to actually start, but i'm NO mechanic... i'm a fashion designer...so this is literally Greek to me.... we'll see what the mechanic says... i instructed him to let the bike cool overnight and see if it can start. since my bike stays outdoors (under a cover) i hope the indoors of the shop doesn't change the problem overnight.

i'm not fimiliar w/the engines... it's 250 cc Znen, its no Yamaha or Honda (at least to my knowlegde). today was 58 degrees this am so i had a heater under the bike and blow dryer at the top... it took 15mins but she cranked. Spandi... the starter button worked w/o applying the brake so i know the heat is affecting some other wires (not sure what though).... when cold i need the brake to make it attempt to start. but atfer the dryer no brake needed. this is like the blind leading the blind...

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Hey...yeah i've been offline for a while... all was WELL! ok this the is full story: 1) no garage but i do have a cover and use it. the bike started having trouble starting this summer after the major rains we had in NC. i would rain for DAYS almost 7 days a week. i noticed a lot of condensation in the speedometer after starting it and warming it up back then 2) the blow dryer is used on the carb (i think) the metal directly under the seat. in the late summer (65+ degrees in the am) the bike still won't start (rain or shine) i use the dryer for no more than 8mins... the bike starts 3) changed the auto choke...no change in starter issues 4) another 250 miles and it's due for another valve adjustment. my mechanic did find the vacuum wasn't sealed properly and fixed that but no change in starting issues i just find it WEIRD that the blow dryer is the only way it starts... i figured that out after waiting for the rain to stop and leaving the bike uncovered in the sun for HOURS and then trying when i get home in the pm... HELP?

my 250cc is over a year old and has had starting issues, since day one but it has ALWAYS started. now after a good rain or cold start it won't. that is until i take a blow dryer to it the metal stuff (not mechanically inclined) and heat it up... then it starts and stays running like a champ. i've changed the auto choke but still no avail... any help, sugguestions? attached is the bike image!
