High charge? Printed on the battery it says limit the charging current to a maximum of 3 amps for 1 hour. Is this what you mean by "high charge"?

I have a fellow rider who keeps his 50 cc scoot in a shed. His 10 yr old son turned on the lights and they were left on for almost a week, hence the three month old maintenance free AGM battery (YTX7A-BS) is completely discharged. With the battery out of his scoot it reads 1.86 volts open circuit (no load). We put it on his Battery Tender and the charger's red LED is flashing indicating that the battery is NOT CHARGING. My digital voltmeter still only reads 1.86 volts even after an hour which confirms the LED indication of NOT CHARGING. My question is this: Is the battery completely shot or is there a way to bring it back to life with a larger charger (ie: one with a higher charging current capacity)? Thanks in advance for any help. We are planning a fall ride together to see the colorful foliage.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll have my other half sew up a "mitten" to slide over the handlebar to cover it up in the sun.

domindart, I would say the clock is splash proof and would probably stand up to a light rain shower but is not submersion. I mounted it with two narrow velcro strips though so it can b removed and put in the glove box if the scoot was to stay out in the rain uncovered.
By the way, the clock also has a month and date function and can be programmed to alternate between time and calender readings.

The Tomos Twister 50 has a load capacity of 300 lbs as well as 16 inch wheels which make pot holes less of a problem. Good luck whatever your chosen ride and stay safe.

I have done a few minor upgrades to my Tomos Twister 50. 1. Battery ChargerI purchased a Deltran 12 Volt Battery Tender Junior online from from Jafrum through Amazon.com ($24. including shipping). I modified one of the supplied cables and put ring terminals on one end and a marine grade female cigarette lighter socket similar to this one from a local marine store ($4. ) on the other end. I used a one inch hole saw and cut a hole in the black plastic panel on the left side below the seat down near where my feet rest and mounted the lighter socket. I then routed the cable from the socket to the battery compartment under the deck of the scoot and connected the ring terminals to the battery with an inline fuse in the positive wire, observing proper polarity. Next I connected a male cigarette lighter plug ($2. ) similar to the one pictured below to the output cable from the charger module. Now to charge the battery I only have to plug the charger's output cable into the socket on the scoot as shown in the following pic and plug the charger module into the nearest 110 VAC receptacle. 2. Adding a Trunk (Top Box)I ordered a flat black removable trunk which matches the black panels on my scoot ($31. including shipping) from Scooter Parts Depot through Amazon.com. Here it is on the rear of the scoot. 3. A Polished Stainless Steel Folding Drink HolderAnother addition is a stainless steel folding adjustable drink holder from GK Wholesale through Amazon.com ($29.99) I decided the best location to mount it was on the glove box door. Drink holder open: Drink holder closed: 4. Adding LED lighting to storage areasI purchased stick up, tap on/off LED lights that are powered by 3 AAA batteries from The Dollar Store (4/$10.00 batteries included). I put one in the trunk another one in the bucket storage beneath the seat and two more in the glove box. 5. Digital Clock and CalenderI mounted a digital clock/calendar with a large LCD display ($3. at WalMart including battery) on the right handlebar in easy view of the rider. 6. Digital Tach and Hour MeterI purchased this Tach and Hour Meter from Power Lights USA through Amazon.com for $13. including shipping. I chose the left handlebar for the location since there waw already a snap out panel which I could use to route the pick-up cable to the engine as can be seen in these next two photos: I routed the pick-up wire down behind the inside fairing panel and then under the coot floor to the engine compartment where it I wrapped around the spark plug wire to so it can count spark plug firings to give RPM readings. Below is a photo of the tach installed on the left handlebar of the scoot.

I guess I'll just have to wait. My scoot is 900 miles away right now. I was trying to get a head start on ordering the LEDs. Thanks for all the help guys.

John,
I copied those numbers directly from my Tomos Twister 50 Owner's Manual. I never dreamed that getting LED replacement bulbs would be so difficult. *LOL*
