Hey guys, live in London area in Ontario and this is my and my boyfriends experience with scooters so far.... Any help would be nice, but we are going to sell ours due to the following:
So my boyfriend recently purchased a lightly used CF moto 150cc echarm and was super excited about how little it cost, (only payed $1100 at a dealership.)
That said, before he bought it, We called some insurance places for prices on insurance and didn't get any good deals, or was turned down Immediately because of his age, 20.
He figured he would just call more places after he bought the scooter, as it was marked down and a really good deal. Well, not anymore.
After a lot of research into the rates of what people pay for their scooters in Ontario, (some people have said 200-600 a year,) my boyfriend is being quoted at 500-700 a month or being turned down.
So I guess I wanted to just say, I am personally disappointed with what people "claim" they pay for their scooters. My boyfriend was really excited after hearing how little he would pay for it, even if it was 100 a month. But now? He can't afford the scooter even with his M2.
Just really disappointed in what others say they pay for their insurance, as his is ten times, if not, more then what people claim they pay.
So he is pretty bumbed out and depressed at the moment, and we have to figure out who to sell this scooter to, as a car is cheaper at this point.
I truly envy anyone who found good rates, but I wanted to get the word out there that scooters seem to be cheap only for people with 5 plus years of owning a motorcycle or having their full M license.
My boyfriend is considering buying a more powerful and new scooter, as the insurance will be the same as his slower scooter as of now.
That was a bit of a rant, but new scooter buyers need to be warned...
